Overview

Wow! Central London hostel with great location, great staff and a 24 hour bar! The steam engine is the place to be! Free wi-fi, free breakfast, free lockers, free bed linen & free smiles!

The Steam Engine’s relaxed vibe and small size make it a great spot to get away from the maddening London crowds! Our hostel rooms are clean and tidy with great facilities for weary travelers, including free linen, free wi-fi and free breakfast in the morning! Those who enjoy a drink will love the friendly atmosphere of our traditional London pub, where locals and visitors regularly mix; it’s a Best of British Backpackers experience!

The Steam Engine Pub is a friendly local legend, offering a great range of local and international beers and ales. The introduction of regular live music and karaoke has the bar buzzing every weekend and the friendly crowd welcomes all! Afternoons are best enjoyed with a frosty pint in the Steam Engine beer garden and BBQ area, playing pool or catching a game on Sky Sports.

Our Location near the vibrant pubs, buskers and bars of Southbank on the Thames also puts visitors within walking distance of the London Eye, Westminster and the Houses of Parliament. We are in Central London Zone 1, which is ideal for budget travelers, with excellent public transport links from Lambeth North underground station (Bakerloo Line) and Waterloo Station.

We are located in Zone 1 making access to all London has to offer extremely simple

5 min walk or 1 tube stop and you are at London Waterloo Station

15 min walk or a short bus ride to London Bridge, London Tower (show case of the Crown Jewels), and London Walking Bridge

15 min walk or very short bus ride the other way to Westminster Abbey, Parliament, Big Ben, and Buckingham Palace and of course the London Eye which you can see from the pub.

Easy tube or bus ride into SOHO night life, shopping, and all that downtown has to offer.
