Liked: Great vibe and staff - everyone was super helpful and always willing to help, even though we arrived at 630am. Well located to access most of the sites to see by foot, and a great place to meet other travellers.
Disliked: My mattress had a broken spring in it so it was a tad bit uncomfortable, but still doable (and I passed out since I was so tired from travelling and visiting around). Other than that, a great experience!

Liked: one of the guys that worked there, Alex, was extremely helpful and always in a great mood (considering it seemed like he never slept!) He had useful travel advice and even let me buy and print tickets to Stonehenge on his computer.
Disliked: it's not a perfect location but it's not bad either. it'll take you about 10 minutes to walk to the nearest subway station but that's typical of london. the hostel is situated near a train station and lots of screeching rail noise comes in the window, but bring some earplugs and you'll sleep like a baby.

Liked: the staff, Alex and Erin, were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay easy and enjoyable. they also have en suite lockers large enough to hold all clothes and valuables, and very reliable wifi.
Disliked: it was an older facility with poor lighting. anything but modern. though everything was clean, it had an kind of old, dingy look.

Liked: The staff are some of the most helpful staff I have encountered in a hostel. We came in at 6:30 in the morning and there was somebody there to let us in, and they even served us breakfast. On my last night I went to a play and they let me store my bags their until after they play. These are just a few examples. The hostel was also clean and the breakfast was decent.
Disliked: We were under a railway so it could get a bit noisy.

Liked: The place can be a little confusing to find as it is above a bar but once you get there the staff is very helpful and it is a pretty nice hostel. Breakfast is decent toast cereal and coffee. The location is alright it is pretty close to Riverside but you have to take the underground to get anywhere else.
Disliked: Noise could be a problem for some there were trains going by late into the night but I sleep with ear plugs so it didn't bother me at all. The lockers are kind of small but you can get anything valuable in them.

Liked: The location and the manager seem a responsible person. Breakfast is ok..
Disliked: The building is very old. I have a little bit of cleanliness issue especially on the 2nd floor toilet which is dirty and has a very bad weird smell. The management gotta do something, put a room fragrance or whatever, I was in the ensuite 6 bedded rooms and honestly I don't think the room value should be 25GBP. It suppose to be cheaper.

Liked: From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a smile and all the information I needed which made me feel welcome and comfortable. Good location, nice bar and beer garden. Above all, every member of staff seemed more than happy to assist with any queries which was a comfort for the weary traveller. My stay was enjoyable and would highly recommend the Walrus to everyone.
Disliked: Wifi rarely worked.

Liked: The staff is super friendly and helpful! Definitely the nicest I've met in hostels throughout Europe. The location is awesome because it's so close to Westminster and therefore all the major attractions such as Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace are 10-15 min walking distance. The tube underground station is also a less than 5 min walk, making it easy to get around anywhere. The breakfast is free and it's great with cereal, biscuits, toast, jam, milk, tea, etc.
Disliked: There's no air conditioning so it gets super hot in the summer. We couldn't open the windows because it's right next to a train station and it would get really loud, and even when we did, it didn't make much of a difference because the room felt so stuffy. It's not the cleanest place in the world and some of the showers were pretty dirty.

Liked: Central location, clean kitchen with all the appropriate utensils and the dorm room was nice and clean.
Disliked: The noise from the traffic was quite loud at night but you get used to it. If you can put up with a bit of noise on a night then you'll be fine, otherwise if your a light sleeper then maybe you should reconsider.

Liked: Great location and friendly staff.
Disliked: It is in horrible condition. The rooms/ beds are small and cramped. The condition of the hostel is poor. It's more like a bar with some rooms upstairs. Not what I would consider a great hostel, particularly considering how expensive it is. The only thing that made it ok was the very friendly staff.

Liked: The walrus has such a homely atmosphere, it definately NOT one of those hostels that you could mistake for a hospital. It has a relaxing, chilled bar downstairs and the staff could not be any more helpful.

Liked: This is about as good as it gets for this price range in London. The place is a little run down but I haven't come across a better staff so far. There is also free breakfast. Wouldn't go back, but you get what you pay for.

Liked: The location is ideal, really close to the Northern and Bakerloo lines and minutes walk from the London Eye. The staff at the Walrus are so friendly and helpful, I can't praise them enough! Also price per night is very good considering these two factors., especially as there is a free breakfast and luggage storage too.
Disliked: We chose the 16 bed dorm having stayed in similarly sized dorms across Europe and generally finding them spacious and not too crowded. However, the room was just too small. It had 2 or 3 too many bunks in it and so it felt really cramped and crowded, having to step over peoples bags and clothes or squeeze past others just to get around. Also felt the room wasn't too secure as the coded lock on the door just didn't work; it was possible to push the doors open without the code. However there were lockers for your stuff. Final point is that the room is very noisy on a Saturday night as the bar the hostel sits above plays really loud music and this is added to the street noise and trains/tubes coming in and out of Waterloo. All this aside, the hostel was fine as a clean, cheap place to sleep for a couple of nights, but it is basic.
