Liked: It is quiet and located in a beautiful park. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was excellent.

Disliked: I think the toilet facilities could be improved. Dorm 10 was rather crowded. The three-level bunk beds are quite difficult to get into. I think that a ladder should be provided for the top bed.

Liked: Nice pond in the garden. Nice location in Holland Park.

Disliked: Cold water in one of the showers. Decor and bathrooms generally a bit tired.

Liked: Pretty buildings and property, extemely quiet as it is set in a park, but still in the middle of the city. We had the window open all night and it was very quiet. The food was amazing and inexpensive.

Disliked: It was quite far from the closest tube station, especially carrying luggage. Even if one wanted to be brought by cab it is impossible as one can only be brought to the outskirts of the park. And going along the Holland walk was a little scary at night, it was too deserted. Safety in numbers I was thinking. The cost for sleeping in a 20 bed dorm was higher than we usually would like to pay, but for us it was worth it as there were onlly 8 or 9 of us and we were in London. I would not have liked to be sleeping with 20 people though! Lastly, I would not recommend buying the 24 hr hop on and off Original Double Decker Tour Bus the front office promotes and sells. The closest stop is very far away (more than a 30 min walk) and the company is not reliable in it's scheduling (only every hour after 1:30PM) . This is the second time in London that this company did not deliver as promised. In fact, the bus we were on,after being promised at it would keep circling until 8PM, suddenly announced at 6:15PM that is was no longer going further and that we would have to find our own way back to our point of departure. We felt deceived as we had just purchased our ticket at 5 PM and were leaving the next morning.

Disliked: 3£ per night extra for non members. If you want to sleep a real lot go in late not early... Recommended for males... i think females would like more privacy. the toilet / shower room was a mess with water everywhere

Disliked: not much atmosphere, have to pay for everything including wifi, lots of beds squeezed in on top of each other.

Liked: As with most YHAs the rooms have a decent amount of space as well as lockers in rooms. The self catering facilities are well equipped. The hostel is in a lovely location inside Holland Park itself and right next the live opera which provides a much different atmosphere to other hostels.

Disliked: School groups are annoying and they seem to be there every day. Internet is too expensive so I just head down to McDonalds where it's free. No breakfast included and the alternative is too expensive considering you can buy it for less down the road.

Liked: Quiet and clean

Disliked: Unfriendly staff, they also charge 3 Pounds per night if you do not have a membership, but that does not say on the reservation so that is is an authentic rip off since you cannot do anything else but paying at the moment of arrival. Such a things should be well displayed in the booking confirmation but it is not the case.

Liked: It is slightly cheaper that other YHA in London.

Disliked: The noisy opera next to the hostel, secluded location of this place and distance from the nearest tube station. High Street Kensington station was closed during the weekend, so I had to find an alternative tube station. The nearest being Notting Hill Gate or Holland Park - both of which were quite a walk from the station to the hostel.

Liked: Staff excellent and the location is great

Disliked: I had stayed here in 2007 and found the hostel excellent this time I stayed on 2 different occasions. The first time one shower for the room I was staying in was not working the other only had cold water and the hot water tap in hand basin was broken. The other shower had no lock on the door and the 2 toilets available for that room were not clean. The second time I stayed I asked for another room and all was ok except only very hot water in shower. I think because they are planning renovations that the effort is not being put in to keep the hostel clean and general maintenance is not being done.

Liked: Good location, accomodation, great value for a stop in Central London.

Disliked: Management did absolutely nothing about unacceptable behaviour in adjacent dorms despite being told several times (not just by me by many others)

Liked: The bunks are piled 3 high and so if you're not fussed on space its okay but need any more than and inch of room between you and another bed then not really for you.

Liked: Good location, but about 15 minutes walk to the tube station. I arrived in the dark and it was difficult to find via the "night gate" as the streets leading up to the entrance had no name. The dorm beds had three on top of each other! Made for a very noisy night. The worst night sleep i have had at a hostel. Please replace these old beds.Please clean room 7 as my dorm bed had bogies (nose excrement) on the frame above me.Breakfast was included and full English - excellent.
