Liked: Very handy for the area we wanted to explore. Loved the location. Thought the rooms were very good value. Great to have the kitchen so that we could if needed have breakfast, supper and make ourselves drinks as well as keep the wine chilled.

Disliked: Rooms were overlooking the road and could be very noisy at night especially as the students celebrating tended to congregate right by the gates under our windows in the early hours

Liked: It´s my once-in-a-life-time-catch when it comes to accomodations! The Barbican-area and the closeness (walking-distance for anyone not disabled) to I would say the best of the most, makes this an outstanding chance to stay in London city without getting ruined!

Disliked: As in the most apartments I´ve stayed so far - the Englishmen haven´t lerned how to put proper windows in their buildings. With a happily singing gal in the nighbourhood, our last night (when we´re about to leave at 4 am) didn´t hold that much sleep - due to the one-glass windows, sparsley possible to close...

Liked: Inexpensive, single rooms, one of realtively few East End altenatives to stay at.

Disliked: Window constructions in room a disaster. Double or even better triple glacing is a MUST. Did not keep nice out at all. Very noicy room facing street, cars passing every minute, people talking, shouting on the street until 5 in the morning. Very unhealthy, unclean with textile carpet in room. Interior design in room extremely tasteless and boring. Bed a disaster with plastic top matress.!! Inpractical sink in room with separate warm and cold water tap, which turned themselves off after a few seconds. Second night, fire alarm went off around 4-5 o'clock for no reason, Everybody went downstairs and had to wait quite a long time before staff could turn it off. Hostel didn't exept credit card, but had not forewarned about that, when booking. I had to go back out and find a cash point machine.

Liked: I liked meeting other people from other countries as my flatmates. For me it was perfect I could make my own dinner and was allowed to stay in when I felt under the weather for one day, unlike a B&B. Just like a hotel, but cheaper!

Disliked: The busy traffic doesn't stop on the road, but then after all it's London!

Liked: Unpretentious but clean and tidy, marvellous value for central London. All staff I dealt with were friendly, responsive and helpful. This is a good jumping off point for tourists; the Barbican Centre, Museum of London, Tower of London, Smithfield Market and River Thames are all within easy reach and transport links via Barbican Tube tation and Moorgate Tube/British Rail Stations are easy to reach. You can even take buses if that is your wont and sightsee as you travel.I would comment that, being a student Hall of Residence, there are brief periods when excited visitors are a bit noisy but it's not excessive, certainly much less so than many hotels in which I've stayed in London previously. It's excellent value for money.

Disliked: Rai left no negative feedback.

24 July 2009 Mark would recommend this property

Liked: Cheap accommodation but bizarre layout with need to climb a steep spiral staircase to get from bedroom to toilet/shower/kitchen. Rooms very hot. Good security with swipe card access and gated entrance. You need to make full payment before arrival and not on arrival as stated by HostelBookers - Sundial will chase you for this before arrival. Waitrose supermarket just around the corner, Tesco Express a little further away on other side of Barbican centre. Kitchen facilities OK . Breakfast and evening meal apparently available but I did not try these. Take aways and restaurants nearby. Bar was not open in evenings but pubs nearby

Disliked: Mark left no negative feedback.
