Liked: Beautiful building, very safe and secure. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall we were very pleased with our stay. We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay in other Astor run hostels in the future.

Disliked: The location was farther from the tube than we would have liked and the toilet seat was broken in our private room. I feel that since we paid more money for the private room, this should have been taken care of.

Liked: The staff were super friendly and it was really clean and bright. Loved the architecture of the building.

Disliked: Only thing i didn't like was the lack of an elevator (since i had a huge luggage bag - not a problem for most backpackers) and how even the luggage storage room could only be accessed by climbing down a very narrow set of stairs into the basement. Otherwise, really nice place. :D

Liked: I loved the location. Right in the heart of London and right by Hyde Park, the central park of london. Near there are shopping areas and beautiful houses and museums which made my journey so convenient. The rooms are really clean and the hostel is sooo spacious!

Disliked: The hostel had sooo many people constantly in the common area that sometimes people came in and could not find a convenient seating.

Liked: The hostel was really close to the underground so walking to and from there was no problem. The staff were really friendly and helpful. And there is also free breakfast (bread, cereal, milk) in the mornings which was nice and convenient.

Disliked: The shower curtains in the bathroom don't go all the way down so sometimes water would get all over the floor, especially if the drain is clogged. And like most other hostels in the UK and the rest of Europe, there is no AC so the rooms would get really hot, especially if you're sharing it with a lot of other people.

Liked: this was a brilliant hostel. The staff were great, the atmosphere was perfect for a hostel where you could either relax, party, meet people or hang out. The rooms were not too cramped and everything was clean. Free breakfast, wifi and large common room were all great assets to the hostel. And nice location too! highly recommended!

Disliked: climbing the stairs to the 4th floor was a bit rough lol.

Liked: It was in a good neighborhood, nice and close to Hyde Park and not too far from food and transport

Disliked: While the breakfast was free it wasn't that great, also we had a private room that didn't have any fan/air con so we had to sleep with the window open, which looked onto a dodgy looking alley. There were also no curtains so we pretty much got up at daylight!

Liked: Very nice looking, room was clean and functional, ensuite bathroom was nice too.

Disliked: So many stairs made for many calf muscle workouts. Would be helpful to have wireless access in more than the one large common room, as it was hard to have a private Skype conversation.

Liked: The building is lovely and the staff very friendly. The hostel feels well run and welcoming. The rooms were nice and quiet.

Disliked: The rooms were a little stuffy. We had trouble locking the in-room lockers.

Liked: Free wifi, breakfast included, large common room. It's not super close to the tube but there are buses nearby and it's in a nice area.

Disliked: Really noisy on some nights, bathrooms not particularly clean. The stairs to the 5th floor are pretty hideous.

Liked: Pretty much everything you want from a hostel. Easy to locate, walking distance from shops and transport, friendly, clean, safe. Great first hostel to ever stay in. Set the bar high.

Disliked: Not much, maybe a vent in the bathroom would have been good, gets real hot in there.

Liked: Really good location, on the same line as a lot of main attractions, also on the airport line, which was convenient after a long flight, lovely area as well

Disliked: ALOT of stairs, be prepared.

Liked: Location was convenient.

Disliked: Disorganized. Half hour to start check in. Second night 3 in the morning, there was a mess with some bookings and the reception guy with 2 other people woke up everyone in the room to count people. In the end they've put one person than should be in the room.

Liked: Busy but good feel about the place. Good value. Liked the free breakfast. Convenient location. Ensuite bathroom convenient.

Disliked: Dorm room floor needed cleaning (should be swept or vacuumed every day but wasn't done in the 2 nights/3 days I was there). 2pm earliest check-in is too late (why not midday? - that's still 2 hrs after check-out). Wirless was hopeless - didn't work for any of us with iPads or smart phones (but did work for people with laptops and netbooks), and the problem got no interest from staff.
