Palmers Lodge Swiss Cottage is a unique new central London hostel. Located near Swiss Cottage tube station this Victorian grade II listed building, former home of Samuel Palmer of the Huntley and Palmers Biscuit Empire, has received a substantial refurbishment to restore it to original condition and to offer the international traveller all the facilities expected at the very best hostels in London.

We have a wide selection of dorms; from smaller rooms up to a 28-bed dorm for the really price conscious traveller. Great care has been taken in furnishing our spacious rooms to the highest standard with top quality bunks and secure storage facilities.

Guests can enjoy free internet and wi-fi access in the lobby, relax in the lounge or have a drink with friends in our bar. A free continental breakfast is served in the dining room.

Our large and beautiful Lounge is a great place to meet new friends. Our Bar is a great place to hang out with cheap drinks every night of the week!! Both Lounge and Bar are equipped with large flat screen TVs.


This beautiful building gives our guests the chance not just to see London's history but also to sleep in it! The restoration has added all modern facilities without spoiling the building's character and guests can be assured by our conscientious staff, security card system and commitment to the highest standards.

We are open 24 hours a day with no curfew and staff who are always on hand to answer queries from guests.

Check in from 2pm or leave your bags before in our luggage room. Security lockers are also available in various sizes for luggage storage outside the rooms - these cost £2 or £3.

Check out is at 11am, giving you an extra hour lay in compared to many other hostels.

Cancellation policy: you can amend or vary your booking until 2PM within 24 hours before your day of arrival without being charged.

Accommodation Information

Cheap accommodation in London shouldn't mean uncomfortable, the city is a busy and hectic place so it's important for us at Palmer's Lodge Swiss Cottage to do as much as possible to ensure our guests can get comfortable nights sleep.

This beautiful Victorian house has been fully refurbished and guests can be comforted by the new décor, carpets, curtains and unique beds but at Palmer's Lodge Swiss Cottage we do not believe in providing cheap accommodation in London by cramming in as many bunks as possible. Even our 21/28-bed dorms are spacious because of the generous allocation given to each bed, high ceilings and large windows of this stunning Victorian house. Neither do we believe that cheap accommodation in central London implies you should take a risk with your possession; every guest will find their own secure locker located under their bed whilst access to areas of the building, including bedrooms, is controlled by a security card system.

Location Information

Unlike much cheap accommodation in London, the Lodge is also located in a great neighbourhood, Swiss Cottage is an affluent part of the city and the local area boasts many shops, restaurants and amenities.

Please note bookings are not confirmed in the same rooms as there are more than one dormitory from certain room types. Please contact reception if required and we will do the best we can to accommodate bookings in the same room.

If your going out then take the tube from either Swiss Cottage or Finchley Road tube stations and in a few minutes you can be in the heart of the city. If you're having a really late night then you can catch the night bus back from Trafalgar Square! There is also plenty to do on Finchley Road with two cinemas, the Hampstead Theatre, pubs, restaurants and the O2 shopping centre.
