Liked: The beds, though cramped, are actually pretty neat, you get a little storage locker above your head. The place is just generally funky, it feels like a fresh design on a hostel.

Disliked: The bathrooms leave a bit to be desired, the shower only has one temperature and there isn't really a place to put a change of clothes in there, so you kind of have to awkwardly hang stuff on one hook... this place would be really great if it had slightly better showers and toilets.

Liked: Clink261 (not to be confused with the other one) is located just a short walk from the busy (and famous) King's Cross station, which puts it pretty much centrally located to anywhere you want to go in London because you'll end up taking the Tube everywhere. The place is pretty decent for the price (everything is expensive in London because of the exchange rate), though as a budget-conscious traveler you will have to do with less amenities. The bunk beds were designed as a "cot" with personal light switches and small lockers in each bed, as well as a large privacy screen, which was a nice touch. The rooms also had a touch-screen showing useful things nearby, bus schedules, and Tube maps.

Disliked: The atmosphere here was rather quiet, as most of the "Clink" events were held at the other Clink hostel, about 5 minutes' walk away. When I was there, the hostel had several groups of high school (or younger?) students, which was not the greatest. Mix that with a few older travelers and there wasn't a real "backpacker" feel to this place. The internet was also expensive at £2/2hours of WiFi, when there was free WiFi at Madeira next door and at McDonald's down the street. All of the above are minor concerns - the major problem I think was that the bathrooms constantly stank of mold and urine. This was very unfortunate as the hostel seemed to be newly renovated and modern, with the exception of the bathrooms. Since I lived on the first floor across the hall from the toilets, it was not the most comfortable of experiences. You could smell the "mold" even from far away, though I never personally spotted any myself, there is really no ventilation from the toilets and showers.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for taking your time and leaving your comment. We are glad you enjoyed your stay, except the fact of the bathrooms, which, in fact are due to renovation any day now. We are aware that comparing with the rest of the hostel, that is one thing we had to work on, and we are doing it in the nearest weeks. Whilst it hasn't been started, we do our utmost to keep the facilities clean and fresh.

Disliked: they charge you for everything, this is the first place that I have had to pay for wifi, 5 pound a day! They also charge you for a map aswell once again the first place I've stayed athat has done this. It's on an extremely busy street where the police and ambulance drive past sirens blaring every 2 minutes. They have music pumping through the hallways all day long so if you head out and don't get back till late in the morning don't expect to get much sleep. Over all not a good place to stay, make this a last resort!

The property's response is

Hi,

We are sorry to hear you didn't like us as much as we would have hoped. I would like to clarify some points you have mentioned. WiFi charge is very reasonable for 24h, and so far we haven't had complaints about that. Maps we sell so guests have an option to have a free map or to choose very detailed, informative map. Music is playing on hallways only during the day but we are always happy to turn it down if someone wants to sleep.
Hope to see you again here and wish you happy travel.

Liked: Rooms were clean and the common areas were good. The free luggage storage was essential for us and worked really well.

Disliked: Bathrooms were steamy and smelly
