Liked: This is a really wonderful hostel. The staff are so friendly and the rooms are clean enough. The kitchen has all kinds of equipment. I just feel like home and really enjoy here a lot.

Disliked: you need to take a bus from the train station. But just for a few minutes, no big deal.

Disliked: Unfortunately the two old men that run this Hostel are absolute control freaks. They have so many rules that I felt too scared to leave my room just in case I broke one of them. Breakfast goes till 10am but you are harrassed and spoken to in a patronising manner if you are in the kitchen any later than 9:30, I felt like I was a child on school camp. They advertise free tea & coffee all day, however, due to the fact that you are locked out of the hostel between 10 & 2:30 it is really only available morning & evening. The lock out rule is absolutely appaulling, I did not realise they would be so extreme. I needed to get into my room due to an emergency & was completely locked out & unable to contact anyone... Disgracful!! After travelling Europe for 6 months, this is by far the worst run hostel I've ever been to.

Disliked: They have special offer on number of nights but if you booked through online rather than phone them don't get special Weird cleaning time all backpackers out at 10:30 am-2pm and closing of kitchen 10:30 pm to 7am Be good to have hooks for towels jackets in dorm

Liked: Great location, quiet and very nice staff. Got put in a private room because there was one free! Breakfast was nice and you could have tea and coffee as you wished. Would stay here again

Liked: Very helpful staff! They even put my friend and me into a room of our own (we had originally booked beds in a dorm) because they had the space. Great location. Excellent breakfast and free tea & coffee all day long. Great fellow travellers in the hostel. Cosy lounge. Board games available. The four-hour lock-out period during the day wasn't an issue because there's enough to do in the Lake District. And even if the weather had been absolutely abysmal (which it wasn't), there would have been enough nice coffee places in Ambleside.

Disliked: Closing and asking guests not to be there between 10:30am and 2:30pm. Turning the WIFI off at night, when travellers are doing alot of planning. Dorm doors don't lock when closed unless you use the key, which means people leave them unlocked alot - not very secure. In our room a woman had her own duvet, it wasn't removed during daily cleaning - which was surprising as this is how bed bugs are shared. Although, we didn't see any bed bugs there. Possibly a Lake District thing, rather than specific to this hostel, but it was full of old people, hence having no atmosphere.

Liked: Good location.

Disliked: Although they have basic lockers by reception and their is a dorm key, for the size of dorm I would expect secure dorm lockers. The Kitchen closed a little early if you like a sandwich or hot drink before bed.

Liked: We booked a dorm, but were given a room to ourselves, which was very considerate.

Liked: cute little town, nice drive to get there.. staff were really nice, we booked for 2 beds in a 4 dorm and since they had room, they put us in our own room for privacy which was really nice of them. :)

Liked: great place to be! very clean, greatest thing about here is the proximity to almost everywhere within the lake district! I went there on the national express, and the location is so ideal that its just three minutes away from the station on foot! awesome ! free internet is awesome as well!

Liked: Helpful and friendly staff. Super kitchen and good WC/shower room. And the drying room is especially a surprise and very helpful for travelling in this region in spring time.

Disliked: not so easy to find the place, it is quite hide on a hill. And the check-in time is limited during the day when I was there.

Liked: The method of payment is quite interesting, and it really feels like a temporary home when traveling.
