Enjoy the breathtaking views from the hostel terrace and explore the large wooded grounds with Woodland Trails and abundant wildlife. There is a range of indoor and outdoor activities for children. For a completely relaxing break try the excellent meals on offer, from hearty dinners to an extensive buffet breakfast and picnic lunches. All food is freshly cooked using locally sourced ingredients and regional specialities wherever possible. Special meals can be arranged for special occasions. New for 2008 there will be a bar area serving local beers and organic wines. In the area, enjoy beautiful local walks, hire a bike, try some watersports, visit the nearby National Park Visitor Centre, take a leisurely cruise on England’s largest natural lake, visit one of the many local attractions, or simply relax and enjoy the stunning countryside.

***We cannot accept bookings in dormitory accommodation for persons aged between 16-18 without an accompanying adult over the age of 18. People aged between 16- 18 who wish to stay without an adult must book a private room.
If you are travelling with a person under the age of 16, who is of the opposite sex, then you must also book a private room, as no one under this age is permitted to stay in a dormitory without an adult***
YHA Windermere is 2 miles outside Windermere in a countryside location. The YHA Shuttle Bus offers transport to and from Windermere from Easter to October. The hostel has been awarded the Responsible Tourism award in recognition of its commitment to the environment.
Budgie Bikes are bright yellow bikes that are available to hire from selected Youth Hostels throughout the UK. They offer an inexpensive and cheerful sightseeing option, that not only provides healthy gentle exercise, but is also better for the environment than other forms of transport.
Prices are as little as £1.50 an hour or £9.50 per day.
