Cameron DunneVery close to the train station and a place to stay. Strange long term residents - not particularly friendly |

Customer reviewPerfect location if you want to travel across Lake District area, hostel is in good location, very near to Booths shop. Running hotel without staff is in my opinion great idea, we had no problem with that. I very recommend this one. |

Customer reviewNice easy-going place to stay, especially if you are in a private room. However the dorms don't have keys, and the door code is always the same, so you have to be quite trusting to leave your valuables, plus the lockers available cost 50p each time and are small. The food was adequate, with bread, butter, jam, cereals and milk available in the mornings. Overall it was a nice place to stay, although the honesty policy was quite hard to get used to. |

Customer reviewThis hostel was a pleasant surprise. It runs on an honesty system so there is no reception and no staff around. I was sceptical about this but it seemed to work well. It was clean, quiet and comfotable and the location is excellent. A few things to note - your rooms are not lockable so don't leave valuables there - however, the hostel itself is always locked and it only offers a small number of rooms so not too many people coming and going. Very important note- Make sure you call the hostel prior to arrival as you need the code to get in the door and find out what room you are in!!! Also, another good pointer is that there is a left luggage facilty at Darryls Cafe which is just on the main road, 2 mins walk from the hostel. Everyone knows it so you can easily find it. |

Customer reviewThe system is a bit interesting, but the place is very nice. At first you might be a little confused 'cause there's no staff to help you out, but overall, if you can read English, you'll get the hang of it. I enjoyed my stay and did not feel unsafe. Good place to meet other travellers and the Lake District is so beautiful. I'll be back one day! |

Customer reviewWe didn't like it!! It was horrible. When we called three times to make canselation before two days of our arrival they didn't pick up the phone, so we left the massages. But one day before, the call got through so we explained the situation, but he denied that he had the messages. He got upset and didn't let us cancel but demands us to come. If we don't, he said he will take the money from the credit card. We was very mean and nasty guy. So we decided to go. When we arrived, even though we booked female dorm there was a man in our room. And the owner wasn't there. So we called him, and it went to the answer machine but didn't leave the message but right after few seconds he call back. So explained about the man in the female dorm but he said he didn't know and there's nothing he can do about it and he called us "trouble makers". It was very insulting. And there was no reception and no one explain about the facility. It was very inconvenient and uncomfortable enviroment. We will never ever stay there again and would never recommend others to stay there. They will ruin your holiday! |
