Liked: Nice and warm. Rooms are simple and clean. Great location in the centre of Windermere easy walk to Bowness.

Disliked: Wasn't a problem at all but there weren't staff around at all.

Liked: The location of the hostel was superb! It's just around the corner from the train station and fairly easy to locate. The tourist information centre is just across the street. The whole place is rather quiet and cosy, but the main reason probably would be that it's the off-peak season right now.

Disliked: It took quite a while for us to navigate through the payment system as well as finding the exact room that we're staying in.

Liked: It's close to the station and easy to find, with a grocer nearby, and the TIC. There's a kitchen and laundry facilities, and free wifi. The bathroom was clean and the room was OK. I was the only one in it for several nights but it could have been quite cramped if there had been 6 people. Tea and Coffee available. Good heating.

Disliked: There are only two bathrooms so I imagine it gets very crowded in summer. I didn't have any problems with the door not being locked deal as I always bring plenty of padlocks and a metal cord and chained my pack to my bed when I was out, but I wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea that anyone could come in off the street if another guest left the front door open, or that someone could come in off the street at night when I was asleep and come into my room-the rooms should definitely have locks. The breakfast was pretty poor, I preferred to use my own groceries really. The beds creaked REALLY badly and the combined top/bottom sheets and no pillow cover was really annoying.

Liked: It's in a good location by the train station and there was a kitchen so we could cook our own meals. The bathroom was good to.

Disliked: The mattress on the bed wasn't very comfortable.

Liked: 2 minutes from the train station low price self-managed

Disliked: the hostel manager was not very available on the phone; on my arrival day I did not find my room keys and I called hime several times on his mobile and landlne, and he never answered; then I texted him and finally he called me back; later that night another guest tried repeatedly to contact him on both number and he didnt get any answer I think the manager should be more accessible over the phone another thing I disliked were the bedlinen (the materass cover was not schaped and during the night it came off)

Liked: the location

Disliked: The hygiene and cleanliness was appalling, there are only two bathrooms only one of them has a lock. Our bedroom door didn't even have a handle, the secirity is minimal so we found ourselves carrying valuables hiking with us as we couldn't leave them in the unlocked open doored room. The state of the bathrooms was dirty and unclean with hair everywhere which was contantly there and not removed very well. If I was a worse person I would have used the honesty policy of payment and paid what I thought fair which wasn't the full amount.

Liked: where it was situated heart of windermere

Disliked: beds creaking when trying to sleep seven people in a small bedroom hygiene was poor no security - a strange man walked in off the street late at night

Liked: The room was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed.

Disliked: There is no parking available next to the property so finding somewhere to leave the car was very difficult.

Liked: almost all self-service, and everybody can have a good communication there. i think the bathroom is lovely.

Disliked: well, it is too small,especially the rooms. and the pillow is too short and soft..........

Liked: Very close to train station and visitor info. has washing machine/dryer/computer with internet (wifi if you can figure out how to use it) and kitchen

Disliked: Should be cheeper if there are no onsite staff. no milk at breakfast for cereal

Liked: Location

Disliked: The toaster and cooker did not work, There are no staff. Phoned the owner many times about the state of the kitchen but he ignored my calls. It is up safe, no locks on doors, anyone could walk in. The owner texted me claiming he was getting a new cooker the day we were leaving and said he would refund me £10 food purchased. He didn't. Do not stay here. You will regret it.

Liked: Good location

Disliked: could not book in at prescribed time could not book in without making various phone calls to different numbers after making these calls & sending a number of text messages it still took 3 hours to gain access after first night door code was changed, so more phone calls and text messages & a 2 hour wait before regaining access to the hostel & our belongings

Liked: Very good price, convenient for seeing the lakes, big supermarket nearby

Disliked: Not enough toilets. Parking was a challenge though not insurmountable. Double bed was saggy.
