Customer reviewVery nice cheap place with a good location to a few hikes and an excellent location to get around to the rest of the lake district. Be warned there is often no staff so checking in is self service, highly recommended that you book before hand. |

Customer reviewThe location is very good, the facility and the cleanliness are unexpectedly wonderful for budget hostel. The bed is really good too. However, I worried during the stay as there is no lock on the room-door and there seemed no hotel manager all the day. |

Customer reviewIt's location and its small size were the big plus points for us and overcame the -ve point below. One negative point was the limited bathroom facilites, 2 loos & 2 showers (one of which didn't seem to work when I tried it) proved a log-jam on Sunday morning). Can't properly comment on staff because we didn't meet any!! I had to explain the 'system' (payment/room allocation) to a Chinese visitor who was expecting to find someone in reception. I think that these instructions (or where to find them) would be a good idea to inclyude on the booking confirmation. Can't comment either on Hostelbookers info since we had our plans made therefore didn't need to look at any of the leaflets etc on offer. But overall we thought the place was great for what we wanted and better than the YHA's I stayed over the last couple of years. |

Customer reviewBasic but in a good location and as a bed for a night or two it was spot on. I would take your own breakfast though. |

Customer reviewPerfect location if you want to travel across Lake District area, hostel is in good location, very near to Booths shop. Running hotel without staff is in my opinion great idea, we had no problem with that. I very recommend this one. |

Customer reviewA female dorm was booked for 6 people, however there were two couples who stayed with us. There were two men stayed with us really made me uncomfortable. |

Customer reviewNice easy-going place to stay, especially if you are in a private room. However the dorms don't have keys, and the door code is always the same, so you have to be quite trusting to leave your valuables, plus the lockers available cost 50p each time and are small. The food was adequate, with bread, butter, jam, cereals and milk available in the mornings. Overall it was a nice place to stay, although the honesty policy was quite hard to get used to. |

Customer reviewThis hostel was a pleasant surprise. It runs on an honesty system so there is no reception and no staff around. I was sceptical about this but it seemed to work well. It was clean, quiet and comfotable and the location is excellent. A few things to note - your rooms are not lockable so don't leave valuables there - however, the hostel itself is always locked and it only offers a small number of rooms so not too many people coming and going. Very important note- Make sure you call the hostel prior to arrival as you need the code to get in the door and find out what room you are in!!! Also, another good pointer is that there is a left luggage facilty at Darryls Cafe which is just on the main road, 2 mins walk from the hostel. Everyone knows it so you can easily find it. |

Customer reviewAny reception for the arrival. My name was not on the arrival list. Internet is not free. But the place is nice and rooms are comfortable. |
