Liked: Any reception for the arrival. My name was not on the arrival list. Internet is not free. But the place is nice and rooms are comfortable.

Liked: The system is a bit interesting, but the place is very nice. At first you might be a little confused 'cause there's no staff to help you out, but overall, if you can read English, you'll get the hang of it. I enjoyed my stay and did not feel unsafe. Good place to meet other travellers and the Lake District is so beautiful. I'll be back one day!

Liked: We didn't like it!! It was horrible. When we called three times to make canselation before two days of our arrival they didn't pick up the phone, so we left the massages.But one day before, the call got through so we explained the situation, but he denied that he had the messages.He got upset and didn't let us cancel but demands us to come. If we don't, he said he will take the money from the credit card.We was very mean and nasty guy.So we decided to go.When we arrived, even though we booked female dorm there was a man in our room.And the owner wasn't there.So we called him, and it went to the answer machine but didn't leave the message but right after few seconds he call back.So explained about the man in the female dorm but he said he didn't know and there's nothing he can do about it and he called us "trouble makers".It was very insulting.And there was no reception and no one explain about the facility.It was very inconvenient and uncomfortable enviroment.We will never ever stay there again and would never recommend others to stay there.They will ruin your holiday!

Liked: A self service hostel with an honesty-based payment. The only lock is the lock for the main door whose combination I think hasn't been changed since quite a while. Two bathrooms (1 downstairs, 1 upstairs) might not be enough for 5 rooms (up to 4 beds per room). On the upside note, the kitchen is useful, we cooked our own dinner and we enjoyed it. The internet is available through a computer in the lounge (with, again, an honesty-based payment). Very close to the railway station. Good value for the money.

Liked: the location is excellent, near rail station and town centre, only 20mins walk to bowness. i stayed in the private room, so i can lock my room, which is really good.. :) also, there's a wash basin in the room, so it's very convenient. u can have free milk and bread for breakfast... :) good value for money.. BUT there r only 2 bathrooms.. so happy queuing in the morning..!! :)

Liked: it is within easy reach of train station and close to many attractions in the area. also, it is located in the centre of windermere town, very convenient.

Liked: No actual staff but a friend of the owner is staying long term and taking care of things excellently. Always on hand to offer advice and fix problems as soon as they arise. Was fearing the worst after reading posts on these sites but our private room locked, we used the small lockers in the living room after we'd checked out. Constantly clean and well-stocked with toilet roll, food etc. Only 2 bathrooms so could mean queuing in busy periods but we got up early and had no problems. Bedding provided - take a towel though or ask in advance.
