Liked: Good location, staff were always friendly.

Disliked: Tiny kitchen with no freezer and very dirty cooking trays, I understand that it is a self catering hostel but surely the owners could undertake a little necessary maintenance cleaning every now and again. There were only two small bathrooms in the whole place, our double bed was terrible; it caved in at the middle and you could feel every spring through the mattress making it very difficult to get to sleep.

Liked: The facilities were good: tv, kitchen, information of Lake district. Great location!

Disliked: Didn't see any staff during the stay, so organising (for example sorting out the fact that our room was in some other people's use) had to bee done by ourselves. Again, when we ran out of milk in the breakfast there was no-one to ask how to get more.

Liked: Really nice area

Disliked: reception was unmanned and it was quite unorganised. I didn't know what room I was staying in (there should have been a list, but there wasn't) and had to go and find an empty bed in the middle of the night and ended up not having a quilt&pillow. Not so good!

Liked: the kitchen has everything that we need for cooking. really convenient! location is very nice as well!

Liked: It was close to the train station and it was a nice place to meet other backpackers living in the same room. The place is nice and cozy and it's equipped with a kitchen and a living room space. There's also tons of information and hiking pathways displayed on a board.

Disliked: We were given the wrong front door code when we first arrived. Luckily there was someone to open the door and we got the new code. We were very fortunate but that's a downside to no staff. There was no place to store our backpackers after we checked out because Darryl's Cafe was closed for construction. However, the tourism office next door directed us to a nearby hotel where we could store our luggage for free. There isn't a lot of showers or bathrooms so we had to wait for our turn but the wait wasn't long and we all ended up chatting together which was great for meeting people. There also isn't any lockers to secure our backpacks but the little town felt very safe so as long as you kept your valuables with you, it should be okay.

Disliked: It was too crowded. When the room was with an extra bed, it was not comfortable for staying.

Liked: Close to the rail station and the bus stop. Close to shops and eating places.

Disliked: No lock on the door to the dorm.

Liked: I especially liked the fact that we could meet with a lot of other people.

Disliked: No reception, nor staff service. There's no staff to serve you and you just have to help yourself to everything. Could either be a good thing or a bad thing.

Liked: The hostel is very well placed. In the city centre, parking on the main street overnight, quite easy to find.

Disliked: Well, the first thing being a bit weird and unusual that there is no staff to welcome you, show your room etc. Don't know what about other rooms but our had lovely view to the bins and there was no lock on the door so absolutely unsecure place to be. Depends on person. For one night sleep over is fair enough...

Liked: Paid internet and no wifi. Free modest breakfast. No hot water in kitchen, so dishes weren't very clean. Nice location and close to food and shops. Honesty system seems to work well. Parking is problematic during the day if you don't want a ticket.
