Lake District Backpackers Lodge

Our clean and comfortable hostel is ideally located, near to both train and bus stations and a good place to start exploring the Lake District.

Situated in the small, but pretty village, of Windermere, we can guarantee you a good night’s sleep! We provide lockers, to let you rest easier, but security isn't an issue in our small village. The village has almost everything, pubs and cafes, a post office and a local shop.

We compare ourselves to a student house, except here you have great scenic views for miles around! Our kitchen, dining area and bathroom are nice and clean, and are well maintained.

So come and pay us a visit, and sample some traditional English country living! To start exploring the Lake District please note, the reception is not always manned and when you book you will be given a key code for the front door, so that you can get in and out!

Once inside, if you go to the kitchen (upstairs) you will see how to register, to find your bed and how to pay. The hostel runs on an honesty basis without staff always being present but they are available on the end of the phone! Most people seem to like this way of operating and appreciate being relied on to be honest!

Payment is by putting your fee into an envelope ( provided) and placing in the safe in the lounge. PLEASE DO NOT PAY THE CLEANER DIRECTLY OR ANYONE ELSE! Thanks

Please note:
If traveling by car that there is no parking in front of the hostel.
This area belongs to local residents and your car will be clamped!! Parking is available on the road overnight and in public car park during the day, 5 minutes walk.
