Sir Edwin Henry Landseer (born 1802) lived in this building. He was a prolific painter and artist of the Victorian age. He loved Brighton and living in this grand old house in Regency Square by the sea. Landseer is probably best remembered for the design of the lions who stand on all four corners of Nelson's Column in the centre of the square. He was also noted for his paintings of animals including the world famous 'Monarch of the Glen'.
