Ideally located one street from the coach station and a seven minute walk to New Street Station, we provide much more than just a bed in a room.
Staying at Birmingham Central Backpackers has its advantages! We are like a home away from home. Immediately upon arrival you will feel like part of the family and due to our intimate setting, it’s a great place to meet fellow travelers.
**New in May 2008 is the creation of our ultra sleek looking POD room. Built and designed to purpose by an amazing local construction company, our POD beds are a self-contained unit based on the Japanese capsule design, only more spacious. They offer you more privacy than a traditional bunk because they are enclosed. Each POD bed has a comfy mattress, 360 degree moveable reading light and private lockers to store your valuables-you bring the lock.**
*SAVE ON TRANSPORT-We are in the centre of Birmingham so you will save money by not needing to take taxis or buses to get to the main attractions in Birmingham.
*TOUGH TO BEAT FOR LOCATION-If you need to get to the NEC or Cadbury World, which are located outside the city centre, we are a short walk to the train station and one street away from the bus stop for the NEC and Birmingham Airport.
*BAR/COFFEE SHOP-We have a coffee/bar and travel shop at reception selling light snacks and refreshing drinks, as well as important travel items.
*SELF-CATERING FACILITIES-There is a fully-fitted kitchen with an oven, stove, microwaves, griller, sandwich toaster and full of utensils-which saves you money on eating out.
*TOP NOTCH CINEMA AND MOVIE COLLECTION-Forget about going to the movies, we bring the cinema to you! Pick a movie from our huge video library and watch it on our enormous projection screen TV with surround sound and enjoy free popcorn during movies.
*OUTDOOR PATIO, GARDEN AND BBQ-Our outdoor garden is in full bloom and the colors are fabulous. Join us out back for our weekly guest BBQ and chill out while you meet other guests and get a free meal!
*HUGE CHILL OUT COMMON ROOM-Our common room/chill-out lounge is the best around. With bright colors, cool music, and a laid back atmosphere-you will feel right at home.
*LOADS OF THINGS TO DO-In the common room you can read a book from our library, watch a movie, eat a meal, have a coffee or beer, play a board game, play a game of pool, chat with friends, use the travel information centre to plan out your itinerary for Birmingham, or enjoy a game on the X-Box, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii.
*GREAT STAFF-Our staff is the best around. They provide excellent customer service and understand that we are here to look after you and make sure your time in Birmingham is the best it can be. We offer free maps upon arrival and always try to help you get where you are going!
*FREE LIGHT BREAKFAST-A free self-service light breakfast offered between 8-10:30 am starts your morning off right. The light breakfast includes: tea, coffee, toast, fruit, jam and biscuits.
*BUDGET INTERNET ACCESS AND FREE WI-FI-Enjoy our complimentary WI-FI if you have a laptop or use our budget internet stations for just 50p per half hour.
At Birmingham Central we offer 'dormitory-style' accommodation with 5-8 bed dorms. Most dorms have their own sink and shower, but toilet facilities are shared. There are luggage lockers in most dorms, so bring a lock or buy one at reception for a pound. If you need us to hold your luggage for a few hours after check out, it isn't a problem.
In addition to Birmingham Central, we also offer beds in our second building located 150 yards away. Our second building houses one private room, one eight-bed and two six-bed dorms, and guests staying in this building also have access to the amenities in the main building as well.
Check-in time is 2pm-11pm. If you need to arrive outside these times, please contact us and let us know, otherwise we will consider you a no-show. You must have a valid photo id in order to stay with us, otherwise we of no obligation to let you stay with us-no arguments.
Bedding is free and towels are available at request at reception free of charge.
Please note, due to our guests being of adult age and the fact that we are licensed as a pub, we do not accept guests under the age of 16 or liquor brought in from outside. Alcohol consumed on our premises must be bought at the bar due to our licensing laws with a valid photo id stating you are 18 years of age or older.
We accept debit and credit cards but debit cards will be charged an additional 40 p and credit cards will be charged 2.0% of the total charge. This is to off-set some of the cost of processing the transaction.
Any cancellations need to be done 72 hours in advance of the booking and in writing to our email address. We DO NOT take cancellations over the phone! This is to ensure you get confirmation from us. For group bookings of 6 people or more we require 14 days notice if the booking needs to be cancelled or amended, and again, please do it in writing.
** Please note that 5/6 share rooms, and 7/8 share rooms are of equal value and are interchangeable **
