Liked: We loved the location of the hostel, right on Lake Windermere. Our room looked out onto the lake which was lovely to wake up to. As we stayed over the New Year festivities we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere too.

Disliked: It wasn't very clean in the shower and toilet areas although the room was ok.

Liked: Location on the lake is perfect.

Disliked: Situated in a room above kitchen- very hot (in December ) and very noisy and smelly when cooking breakfast

Liked: The location is perfect, right on Lake Windermere, which was beautiful. The staff were all great even the hostel was very busy at times. I would definitely go back.

Liked: Excellent location for the Lake District and Ambleside itself. Very picturesque. Clean. Nice staff. Good parking for me and mates motorbikes off road.

Liked: Large kitchen & dining area and lots of seating for relaxing. Our room was brilliant overlooking the lake - fabulous!

Disliked: Small car park & the restaurant stopped serving food at 8pm which is quite early if you have been out walking all day.

Liked: Fabulous location & the mix of young and old getting along together.

Disliked: Car park is quite small for the number of rooms, so get there early, although you can park in the pier car park next door overnight.

Liked: Beautiful location, all the facilities you could possibly want or need and friendly, helpful staff.

Liked: The lake view in in front the hostal.

Disliked: The hygiene of shared showerroom is bad. The location is inconvinient and the the cancel of shuttle bus service is a disappointment. The mattress is uncomfortable. The sound proof of door is poor and I kept hearing the children in and out the room next door.

Liked: It was right on the lake, we couldn't have wished for a more picturesque view from our room. The drying room was very handy for when it rained, and the laundry facilities were reasonably priced.

Disliked: Nothing :)

Liked: Great location and really friendly staff.

Disliked: Only bad thing I would say is that YHA's wifi via Global Gossip at £4 per hour is a bit unfair.

Liked: It was very clean, and the view from our window was lovely.

Disliked: The YHA was a full mile from everything else in town; breakfast had to be bought separately; the pillows were extremely uncomfortable; and the building was too hot all the time.

Liked: The location. The staff were friendly. The picnic tables outside overlooking the lake. The beds were comfortable and clean. Toilets, showers well kept and clean.

Disliked: Nothing. It was a great experience!

Liked: Quite obviously a big well-visited hostel, but it was cosy rather than crowded. The staff was nice and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were really good and served in a very spatious room. Lovely lakeside view.

Disliked: Many toilets did not have sinks. I found one that did have a sink, but that toilet didn't flush properly. None of the toilets or showers I found had mirrors.
