Overview
Ambleside is fast becoming the adventure capital of Cumbria, right in the heart of the Lake District. It’s perfect for walking, watersports, mountain biking and other outdoor activities. The hostel boasts a commanding location on the shores of Lake Windermere with breathtaking views over the lake, the Langdale Pikes and surrounding mountains.
Great watersports, walking, climbing and steamboat trips - it’s all here. YHA Ambleside is on the edge of Lake Windermere, overlooking the water to the Langdale Pikes. Buy tickets for cruises and Mountain Goat tours from reception. The hostel has a modern bar and restaurant serving good food and local ales. The village has plenty of shops and two cinemas.
IMPORTANT - YHA is a charity aiming to inspire all, especially young people, to broaden their horizons, gaining knowledge and independence through new experiences of adventure and discovery. In support of this aim, YHA is a membership organisation and all prices quoted on this website are member’s rates. A non-member supplement equivalent to GBP 3.00 per person per night will be charged on arrival for those guests not in possession of a valid YHA (England & Wales) Ltd or equivalent IYHF/ Hostelling International membership card.
