Liked: I had a great time here and I didn't want to leave. All of the staf (reception, restaurant and dive center) are really nice, remember your name and do everything to help you if needed. The restaurant has good food. The dive center has good teachers and is cheap compared to a lot of others around. And Dahab itself is just a pleasure to be.

Disliked: The doors from the toilet and showers, one wouldn't close and the others you can't lock.

Liked: Nice & cozy place by the sea, great terrace, good food, good offers for diving.

Disliked: Just one thing, the water from the well is quite salty and with the lack of pressure, makes for a somewhat disfunctional bathroom.

Liked: Staff very helpful and very quick to find solutions to all kind of request.... The atmosphere is very friendly and relax... perfect for a holiday at less than 2 steps of the sea! Amazing view on the red sea and the Saudi Arabia... We all wish that it will never end!

Disliked: Nothing except that the bathrooms, showers and rooms can be more clean... maybe need a bit of renovations and painting...

Liked: The location was great right on the beach. Unfortunately this was the only good thing about this hostel.

Disliked: Staff were rude extremely rude, tours and diving were over priced compared to other places in the area. Food was not great. Avoid this hostel.

Liked: We had a great stay! Living in Egypt we had visited Dahab on many occasions but this was the first time we had stayed with penguin but we will definitely go back! The staff are the key. All of the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and would go out of their way to help us out, from dropping us off at a shop to organising trips. There was never any pressure or obligation felt. We had a fabulous time and have enjoyed telling all our friends to stay there!

Disliked: Very little. The rooms are of the standard you would expect for the great price.

Liked: the atmosphere in the penguin was very relaxing and chilled out. it also has a great restaurant and diving school on site.

Disliked: the showers in the en suite rooms tent to flood the bathroom floor.

Liked: Amazing retaurant right by the sea!! Their turkish coffee is the best i have ever had! Staff are great and there are loads of amazing activities they can arrange for you. VERY relaxed athmosphere.

Disliked: My dorm room was very dirty and the shared bathrooms were in a bad way. But seing as I only paid 2 pounds 20p per night I did not really mind. The private rooms looked very nice and clean.

Liked: Very friendly and helpful staff. Lots of services offered -- they booked my return bus ticket to Cairo for me and stored my backpack for me after I checked out on my last day. Perfect location. Hot showers 24/7. Really inexpensive and fun place to stay.

Disliked: I had to make friends with the little ants in my room.

Liked: location

Disliked: This property is aging and sadly is not clean. We booked for four days but moved out after two because of the cockroach problem. The final straw was when one crawled onto my wife while in bed at night.

Liked: Nicely built and with a good balcony.

Disliked: Some of the staff were very rude and unhelpful. It seemed like we were 'putting them out' by simply asking if we could hire a bike from them, and this is just one example!

Liked: good location and facilities

Disliked: the place was grubby, the staff were very complacent and lazy.No airport pick up as requested, cold water showers, waiting two hours on a beach for a transport pick up after a snorkelling trip (it was dark and deserted by the time the truck arrived) The transfer to the Jordan ferry arranged by the hotel had us waiting for the ferry for 6 hours when a phone call to check ferry schedules would have been helpful.

Liked: It was the cheapest one on the strip.

Disliked: The front desk staff was sometimes very friendly, other times very insulting. It was hit or miss and their sense of humor was almost abrasive at times. The other staff (cleaning) wandered around the property not greeting or smiling. The single/double rooms all smelled bad (I was in three different ones). It might be that rooms above were empty and covered in trash!

Liked: Rooms are clean and good value for money.

Disliked: Rooms only get cleaned if you ask for it. "Free pick up service" from the bus station that was offered on the website was not available. We got a free ride on our way back instead but only after some discussions.

Liked: The Penguinis the place to stay for budget minded adventure seekers in Dahab. With a seaside restaurant, Internet cafe, laundry, and dive center all part of the "village" there is little need to go anywhere else. The staff is super honest and friendly. We shopped around for prices of various activities and transportation and The Penguin was always cheap and/or fair. Meet sommany col people and recruited bunch while side tripping to Jordan. Go and tell Mahomed "Salam" for me...

Disliked: Nathan left no negative feedback.

Liked: Relaxed fun atmosphere at the restaurant. Let me bring in my own yogurt and muesli while I got a drink there for breakfast which was cool of them. Good people working at Penguins. Very helpful.

Disliked: Mostly clean but toilets at times a bit sketchy.

Liked: Very cheap and my dorm was clean!

Disliked: The staff don't get anything sorted, ever. They always tell you to come back in 10 minutes, 10 more minutes, 5 more minutes. I wound up having to go find another hostel my last day at 6pm in the evening because they "thought" they were fully booked but couldn't be sure.
