Liked: Booked a 4-bed dorm and got a 3-bed one which was a nice surprise. Very friendly owner, good location.

Disliked: However, the security is rather poor - the dorm door is unlocked all the time (even if nobody is in because you don't get a key) and the wather in the showers is SALTY because it comes partly from the sea. So you have to rinse your skin off with bottled water after a shower. Also, they didn't change the bed sheets after the last person who slept in the dorm.

Liked: The restaurant is beautiful and a great place to relax by the beach. The staff at the restaurant is very helpful and kind and Karim is a big help in the office.

Liked: Quiet but still close to the action of the strip on the waters edge.

Liked: Great location on the water front with views of the red sea. Had a fantastic relaxation area where you can sunbath by the sea edge above the restaurant. Large variety of tours available at reasonable prices. Was sad to leave, felt that I could stay there for weeks.Only negative point was that the water in the showers appeared to be salt water. However apart from that this was a great place to stay and extremely good value for money.

Liked: It offered one of the rare dorm beds in Egypt. But in the dorm there was nothing other than very little floor space to put your stuff on, nor possibility to put your things behind a lock. The room had not been cleaned for a while, or the collection of empty water bottles removed... Price meets the quality though, I would stay again.

Liked: An awesome place to stay in Dahab! Great facilities, nice restaurant right on the water to hang out in, and a wonderful (and cheap) selection of activities on offer. They did a great job of handling a large group of us, and the staff was efficient and helpful.

Liked: Great location and by far the best kicking back area along the strip. nice and cruisy but the only gripe would be the bathrooms could do with a little more pimping. But we are in Egypt atfer all and the room balconny view tops all.....

Liked: Had read very good reviews of Penguin Hotel but after booking online we were put in a room which was outside the hotel itself, above a shop and obviously not finished! Door wouldn't shut, holes in the walls, live wiring, dusty, bare concrete, bad drains, very noisy, dirty sheets and pillows etc etc. They had possibly overbooked and thought this room would be finished on time? We left after one night, they were understanding but charged us for the one night anyway. Not good experience at all!

Liked: penguin was great, but i suggest you take cash to pay for your hostel at end of stay because they cgarge for cards. We got charged extra for our hostel because hostel bookers was english, in pounds, but they sent the bill to penguin in euro's! Not good exchange so we paid more than we should have! penguin staff were really understanding and helped us out.

Liked: The room we had was a great deal - sea side view with air conditioning, for an incredible price. When you walked downstairs from your room, you were literally already on the sea (but so were the other countless hotels/hostels on the promenade). The hotel also offered free breakfast every day at their AWESOME restaurant on the sea, Penguin Restaurant, which had delicious food. They didn't really remind anyone that breakfast was included, so make sure when you go there for breakfast you tell the waiter your room number at the hotel, to make sure you each get a free breakfast (worth 15 LE per person).The only thing I would not recommend is the hotel's dive shop, Penguin Divers. The equipment is old and falling apart, and our guide was not very helpful or pleasant. Go to Sphinx Divers just a couple minutes walk further down on the promenade - they were so much better, for the same price.

Liked: The staff were quite friendly, giving us good and honest advice for travel and excursions and the property was right on the oceanfront (Red Sea rather!).
