Liked: We had the opportunity to stay at Meramees on 2 separate occasins while we were in Cairo. We were originally told we couldn't get the free shuttle bus from the airport because we were only staying 1 night. When we stated that the site does not stipulate this condition they very gladly picked us up.The staff were very friendly. We arrived very early in the morning the second time and they let us use another room to rest up and shower until our room(505) was ready.The hostel's exterior is not impressive as the hostel is actually on the 5th floor.Good central location to get to all the normal sites of Cairo. Very cheap and safe eating place just down the street called Kazaz. This place has what you need especially if you are on a tight budget . Breakfast is sparse but adequate. Would definitely stay there again and what it may lack in amenities etc. it certainly makes up for in hospitality.

Liked: Meramees is a great place to stay: good location, amazingly friendly and helpful staff, plus free internet and breakfast. I really lucked out coming here, and managed to meet some fun people too. Their recommendations for what to do are top-notch. The driver they set us up with to go see the Pyramids was amazing, and really made the trip to Egypt seem worth it.

Liked: good place. just one advice: try to catch a taxi or make a tour for your own in egypt! in hotels and agencies you spend a fortune :-P

Liked: Very relaxing place, clean and good location. Note though that it is free transfer from the airport *OR* to giza, as you do not get both. When we mentioned it they were friendly enough to offer us the ride to Giza though, they are very friendly staff. Free breakfast and internet is definately a plus.

Liked: The ONLY reason I'd recommend this place would be to take advantage of the free airport pickup and transfer to downtown where this place is located. It is very nice, if you're at the beginning of your trip, and your first experience doesn't have to be getting ripped off by one of the many many dirty cab drivers. Watch out though, because the hostel is RIGHT NEXT DOOR to a Mosque, which summons the faithful to pray around 4am, and then a few minutes later the loudspeakers blaze again quite loudly into the hostel for I can't remember how long. Just bring the earplugs, because for me, it was worth it.

Liked: Very helpful staff. Nice people, fluent in English. An oasis in the desert, as far as the knowledge of foreign languages is concerned. Furthermore I would like to emphasize how vividly the location of the hotel is: many nice shops and restaurants and if that is not enough: the metro is around the corner!I will be back!!

Liked: everyone here was so friendly and helpful whenever we needed anything! we have stayed in a few other hostels during our trip in egypt, and meramees was the best one by far. i would definitely recommend this to anyone staying in cairo!

Liked: This hostel is located right in downtown Cairo, which was awesome. It is easy to walk to the Egyptian museum and other such places. Also, the hostel found us a driver to take us the the pyramids, which was good. And despite being in downtown, the hostel is near the top floor (there is an elevator), so you feel safe up there. Breakfast was not huge, but served with a smile. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and definitely helped make our stay in Egypt a great time.

Liked: The best place ever! though it's small the atomosphere makes difference. People you meet here are amazing,always helpful, easy goining, funny. You really might forget that you are actually in Cairo when you are here..of course till you get out on balcony :PReally the place people come back to so often. and I did...2days after I left it for 1st time ;)

Liked: This place is awesome! Besides the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff, what really impressed me was the free airport-pickup they offer. My plane was late for four hours and there was still someone there waiting for me. Great service, especially in a city/ an airport like Cairo! Also did a desert safari through them which was simply perfect as well. Thanks a lot to everyone at Meramees!!!!
