Liked: I loved this hostel. Everybody is so nice and they will all go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and confortable. it is very centrally located and the area is full of shops and places to eat. Cassy planned my whole itinirary and i loved it. The beds are super confortable and the rooms are very good size. I definetely recommend this hostel to everyone. I hope to come back here again sooner than later.

Liked: a wonderful hostel. Ahmed, Mohammed, and the whole staff are extremely friendly, helpful, and honest. They always gave us excellent advice on places and tours (without pushing anything on us we weren’t comfortable with; a treasured rarity in Cairo!). The hostel itself is very clean and the location can\'t be beat! I would recommend this hostel without hesitation or reservation. In a city that can sometimes be overwhelming

Liked: The Common room is very comfortable and always someone to hang out with and chat to. :) I checked in with a guy named Mohamed and he is very knowledgeable about Egypt and helped book all my tours. They even have proper comfy beds (not bunk beds) which i really liked. The Hostel was very clean and close to all the local shops. Would definately stay here every time i come to Cairo. Thank you all soo much for your great hospitality.

Liked: This hostel is wonderful. Mohamed runs a truly amazing place and the rest of his staff are just as helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet escape from the busy streets of Cairo. Also a good place to meet other travellers and have a couple of beers or a cup of tea. Ahmed makes excellent turkish coffee!! Thanks everyone!

Liked: Exceptional hostel, very welcoming, knowledgeable staff and great fun to hang around, within short walking distance to the nile and Egyptian museum, restraunts, and the town center, pick up from the airport ...Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Liked: near the city centre. quiet when no workmen are working downstairs!

Disliked: difficult to find, the sign is small and needs to be more prominant. our room had no window, and the staff sprayed fly killer spray around. the breakfast was so-so, dont rely on it as a replacement lunch! the male staff were more interested in chatting up the female staff than helping all the people with questions!

Liked: The hotel driver picked us up from the Airport as promised at 2:30am...We hired a Taxi (organized through Hostel) from the hotel to the Pyramids for the day, excellent driver.. - Rooms were clean (cleaners are always cleaning the common areas which is good) Good information given from Mohamed & Ahmed.

Liked: The guys who run the hostel are excellent. They are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about traveling around Egypt without pushing their own tours, but they are just very friendly - which is awesome. The location is perfect.

Liked: the staffs were helpful and friendly, but! they cheated money with over priced the tours and tickets! We booked a white desert trip with the hotel and they promised an english guide but that was a lie, the guide cant even speak any english and he just dropped us in the middle of desert and show the sign of taking photos! we didnt actually knew where we had been after the trip!!! Ridiculous!

Disliked: dishonest people and facilities are bad! i wont recommended this hostel to my friends!

Liked: American House has the best staff we have experienced in a long time! Nothing was too much trouble, and there was always someone around to assist or joke with! They were particularly helpful in organising tours, without being pushy. The location is pretty central, near the Egyptian museum, with a general store at the end of the street. Breakfast is included, yay! Thanks team!

Liked: Good staff, location. Good size rooms. Great hot showers.

Disliked: Breakfast served right outside the rooms - a bit noisy. An idea to serve breakfast from an earlier time as most people want to head out early especially in the summer months.

Liked: The hostel employees are friendly, though sometimes you get the sense that they are pushing excursions they get a cut of instead of offering honest advice about getting around Cairo.

Disliked: The rooms, and the facility in general, are noisy and right on a street of (constant) traffic.

Liked: The staff at American House are very helpful. We arrived with little knowledge of what we wanted to see in egypt and the hostel staffed organised our trip down to aswan and luxor which was great. They also provided plenty of help with things to see and do in cairo.

Liked: Building really nice and had history. It was used for filming a movie and the elevator is awesome. Ahmed was really friendly and booked me a trip to Luxor.

Liked: Really nice staff and helpful above all. They offered us the excursion to the pramids nd the sphinx and it was a true dream. Our driver was the best, and everything was taken care of by the staff of the hostel.

Liked: This is a magnificant central place in Cairo to stay. The staff did everything they could to make you feel welcome and assisting with any directions or help with things to do or how to get somewhere. The place is old but had everything that was needed with all facilities up to scratch. Being just new in Egypt I knew little on tipping traditions. I later wish i gave these guys a big tip. I hope this review helps. I prefered the mixed dorms on Level 4 as they were safe and secure behind the 24 hour reception desk. Richard ( Australia)

Liked: right in the center, offer great hosts, provide you with 24 hour service. will drive you anywhere and everywhere. pick the best spots/ prices for you. make you feel safe :)
