Liked: First of all, finding this hostel may be a problem. If you get offan El Gouna bus from Hurghada, at the final stop you should seea building with a CIB sign. The address is confusing, so focus moreon the name of the building (Marouf Tower) than on the street.As far as the hostel itself is concerned, there was not much tocomplain about - my single room was really good and clean. Theshared bathrooms also new. What is important, there are only some5 rooms at every floor, so it is not crowded at all. The breakfastcould be better, though - it is too simple. Briefly speaking, agood place to sleep in Cairo on a shoestring.

Liked: Although the property was fine (apart from the reek of cigarette smoke) I would definitely not stay here again. The only reason this hostel has such good ratings is that they coerce people into giving them good feedback. Upon checking out, the woman at the hostel informed us that we had not been charged the correct amount when we checked in and needed to pay some additional money (the confusion originated when they put us all into one room, not two rooms as we had booked therefore the price was different to our Hostelbookers reservation). We were happy to do this and paid the correct amount based on the stated cost of the room on Hostelbookers; however, there was some confusion about how much we were supposed to pay. She wanted us to pay more than the cost of the room we stayed in as she said the 10% internet deposit was a HostelBookers fee we had to pay on top of the total room cost. This misunderstanding could potentially have been resolved with the woman, but another employee showed up and started talking over both her and us! He was quite outrageous in his claims and kept changing the amount that he wanted us to pay (and kept inventing new reasons as to why we should pay extra). He also said that if we would give the hostel 100% rating then we could pay less (but still more than we really owed!). In the end he told us that we had to go with him to their computer to give the hostel 100% rating right then and there, and if we didn't we would have to pay double our original booking price! We paid the correct amount of extra money that was owing on our room, based on the amount stated to us by the woman, and left.If you do stay here and have a negative experience, please don't bow to pressure to give good ratings as this doesn't give travellers a true picture of the hostel and also doesn't encourage the hostel to improve its practices!

Liked: Best location -just 250m to Midan Tahrir. Very cheap local restaurants nearby (ask for koshary one) or in Midan Talaat Harb with Felfela (the best one!) and Kazaz. The Internet access is a bit pricey, but good. The cleaning need to be improved, like everywhere in Egypt ;) The free Airport pick-up worth, trusty driver. For other transfers call and order by phone Cairo City Cab (insist to start the taxcounter and max.15% tip, it's only 35-40 pounds to the Airport!!!, 15-25 to the Bazaar or Coptic City. I don't remember their phone no.) I didn't used their tours, I travel by myself to Luxor and Hurghada, by Egyptair is really cheap (75-90USD go and back) if you go to their offices and ask for the Egyptian Price. Or by bus/train to Alexandria and by taxi inside the city: 10-15 pounds.Remember: in Egypt everyone put a 30-50% commission if help you with something! Otherwise: the cheapest country! Get maps, tips and reviews from web always.

Liked: Be careful who u trust.wake up is located in a dodgy place but its close to almost everything even the best and cheapest food.Staffs are very friendly and helpful.The lift is scary.The tours were awesome but before booking ask around .the tours provided by the hostel is very safe and on time but pricy so ask around.

Liked: Central location, really good places to eat just around the corner (abo tarek - for koshary, egyptian pizzas, felfela - for evening meals, luxor - liquor shop), can organise lots of trips with the hotel too (we did the pyramid tour and they organised our train to Luxor). Advisable to arrange airport pick up with them too - we found it difficult to get a taxi from the airport at 4a.m!

Liked: I travel a lot and have stayed in many hostels. It is very rare to find such a nice hostel like Wake Up! Cairo. The staff is very easygoing, helpful and always delivers useful informations. The rooms are clean. Their driver is 100% reliable. I did not regret to have stayed here.
