Liked: It is very clean, with great esthetics. Service is wanting. Staff seems uninterested in helping you and there is limited (at best) English spoken. But the beds were nice with comfy comforters. Breakfast was good. There is a store and two inexpensive eateries near by if you are tring to watch costs. Take a taxi from the airport as there is a fixed charge from the airport and it is way cheaper than the shuttle. Over all, not too bad.

Disliked: See above.

Liked: if you're looking for a nice and quiet place, this place is perfect; located in between old and new town, nice clean rooms around a quiet garden, really good breakfast buffet for a reasonable price (but super cheap and tasty local eateries just next door!)...

Disliked: if you're wanting to meet fellow backpackers and party etc, this is not really the place; there were mainly families, couples and older people when I was there.

Liked: We stayed in a private double ensuite, and it was by far the best room we've had throughout South America. The bed was very comfortable, facing out over Quito through a huge window. There was a big duvet on the bed and a spotless bathroom with a powerful hot shower. We were at the top of the hostel and still just picked up wi-fi from bed. A good breakfast, although it's a shame its not included in the price and a great bistro restaurant attached. We had a lovely stay and will definately be returing

Disliked: There was no hook in the bathroom for our towels, or in other words, nothing

Liked: Good rooms, HOT water!, towels changed every day, nice courtyard garden, rooms at back are away from traffice noise, beds not too hard. Buffet breakfast is good. Location between Mariscal and Old Town is good as both are within walking distance.

Disliked: Location means there are no restaurants or other amenities nearby, so if it is raining may need to use the pricey bistro in the hostal (though the food there is excellent).

Liked: Excellent restaurant open until 10 p.m. Computers available plus free Wi-Fi. Limo-van pickup from the airport for $10.L'Auberge was recommended to me by a couple in Galapagos.

Disliked: Confusion about payment of taxi driver that took me to the airport at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 17. I had paid the hostel manager another $10 to cover the cost of a return limo-van ride back to the airport for my 6:30 a.m. flight. The manager wrote a note on the calendar for the night shift clerk to call for airport transportation for me at 4 a.m. The night shift clerk had a yellow cab taxi waiting outside when I showed up at 3:30 a.m. in the reception area. I returned the room keys to him and he carried my bag downstairs and awoke the taxi driver. At the airport, the taxi driver asked for payment and I told him that I had already paid for my transportation at Auberge and they were supposed to pay him. The taxi driver was arguing and tried to take my bag away from me to force me to pay. I shouted that I had paid $10 already and yanked my bag away from him. Others nearby at the airport caused the taxi driver to stop arguing and to get back into his taxi and leave. I don't know whether Auberge phoned the wrong transportation service and not the one with whom that have a contract, and if the night clerk forgot to pay my $10 to the taxi driver, or if the driver was trying to get more money. It wasan upsetting end to a nice stay at Auberge.

Liked: This property is positioned near many of themodern museums and between the historic and modern centre so perfectly positioned to explore Quito. Furthermore Auberge Inn has an excellent restaurant attached, cheap breakfast options (added payment), TV room, and very clean.

Disliked: Only dislike was the gas stove provided as part of the kitchen facilities which did not have a strong flame, however during our stay the kitchen was being re-done and the currently attached gas bottle was almost empty.
