The Hostal Colíbrí was founded in 1997 by an Italian, and is now run by an American former Peace Corps volunteer. It is a relaxed and comfortable place to stay near the center of Puyo, which is the gateway to the Ecuadorian rainforest region. Puyo is the commercial, cultural and political center of the region, but has a population of only about 30,000 and retains the neighborliness and tranquility of a small town.
We have 8 rooms facing an open patio. All have private bath, hot water and access to cable TV and wireless internet. In the cafe, we have internet service, cheap international calls and laundry service, as well as great food -- breakfasts, sandwiches, pizza and vegetarian food.
We also offer trips to farms, reserves and all types of organizations, and offer logistical help with projects and contacts in all areas.
