We're a brand new Hosteria situated in an idyllic location up in the hills overlooking the market town of Otavalo.

We're called a Hosteria as we have our own little village up here, five houses to be precise, perfect if you're looking to have a place to yourself for a bit of peace and quiet.

We've got all the usual bits and bobs that you'd expect from a decent backpackers hostel:

We also have the little touches that are pretty unique, tennis and table-tennis, large green open spaces and a view overlooking no less than four different volcanoes.

Accommodation Information

Hosteria Cabañas Rose Cottage is made up of five separate houses each named lovingly after the Volcanoes which surround them.

Casa Imbabura: Imbabura is the largest of the five, containing a large six bedroom dorm and one twin room. With a terrace looking out onto our tennis court, Imbabura is home to our communal areas, containing a small kitchen, TV lounge, book and DVD library. With its many beds and independent facilities Imbabura is an ideal base for groups or for independent travelers on a budget.

Cabaña Cayembe:One for the romantics, this beautifully designed wooden chalet with private bathroom sleeps up to three. Its heavenly location means you could wake up looking out onto not one, but two Volcanoes from the comfort of your bed.

Casa Cotopaxi:Towering over the rest of the houses, Cotopaxi is the social centre of Rose Cottage, home to our petit-restaurant, lounge, table-tennis table and bar. Upstairs we have two double rooms (one with private bathroom) and a three-bed room all with fantastic views onto the surrounding hills.

Casa Cotacachi: Secluded from the other houses at Rose Cottage, Cotacachi has fantastic views of the taxopamba valley. With 4 double rooms of which one has a private bathroom, Cotacachi is an ideal place to relax and unwind.

Casa Chimborazo: The most elegant of the bunch, Casa Chimborazo is an independent cottage with private lounge with TV and DVD player, cooking facilities, bathrooms and balcony looking out over Otavalo and the Imbabura Volcano (not to be confused with one of our houses). Built with families in mind this cottage is just as suitable for small groups looking for a degree of privacy in opulent surroundings without breaking the bank.

Location Information

Sitting pretty at an altitude of 2800 metres you'll find it pretty easy to forget that ten minutes down the road is the bustling hive of activity that is Otavalo, home to Ecuador's most celebrated indigenous market.

Whether you're passing through on the Pan-Americana, practicing your haggling skills down in town or are searching for a base camp from which to explore this fascinating area Rose Cottage can provide the perfect backdrop for your adventures and a cold beer in a hammock with a stunning view when you're done.
