Liked: Room separated from house, nice garden, good food.

Disliked: The owners are pushy about getting you to eat in the casa and take a tour with a family member. Difficult to get privacy, room didn't have soap or towels

Liked: In a very quiet street, this house is ideal for people that want to rest. Maceo and Gladis make you feel like part of the family straight away. They even gave us a bottle Rum as souvenir, because we booked 5 days with them! The food was delicious and in enormous portions. I was pregnant but Gladis always made sure the meals had all the vitamins I needed. Great value for money.

Disliked: Elsa left no negative feedback.

Liked: Great stay - Gadis is as kind as all the reviews say and her food is as wonderful as they say. The only negative point is that she can be a little overbearing and doesn't like it if people want to eat out and not eat her food. But if she improves on that point, this place will be absolutely perfect. We had a great time.

Disliked: Ashlea left no negative feedback.

Liked: - The garden is amazing and Maceo will be happy to show you all the plants, fruits... He will give you explanation on how to grow them, harvest... It is an amazing experience. - Room is comfortable and clean - Food is good and in quantity.

Disliked: - They insisted a lot on taking a tour with one of their friend or family member (horse riding and visiting cavas) and clearly showed us they disappointment when we said we already made our plans. - The owner tried to make us pay the 10% we paid as booking fees, through the website. She said this 10% is paid to the state and not to her... strange as in the other casas we did not get this feedback.

Liked: Well where do i start with what was an amazing stay?? We booked this casa for 3 nights after reading the reviews online a month before we were going to stay. We didn’t really know what to expect when we got to Vinales or if we were even going to be met by anyone as we were arriving by viazul, so just prepared to get off and get the map out! But as soon as we got there Maceo was waiting with our names on a sign just as the bus turned up! Maceo although not a very big man also waved the effort of my girlfriend trying to pick her heavy bag up to one side and insisted he carried it all the way back to the casa! :-) (Oh top tip for people staying, its not very easy to find off the map, but don’t be afraid to ask anybody locally as they will be glad to point you in the right direction!) On arrival to the Casa we were met by Gladis who instantly took us into her home like family! A really lovely bubbly woman who is always smiling! Both don’t not speak a word of English and my Spanish is quite poor, but that did not hinder our stay at all, and even with poor Spanish, you pick it up very quickly as Gladis can talk for hours!! The location of the casa is amazing, the Garden is beautiful and has everything you would expect to find in Cuba in it! Needless to say Maceo is very proud of it and very kindly showed me round, pointing out all the different fruits and coffee growing! It also backs onto a really nice piece of scenery, and can look out onto the Vinales valley! This Casa is easily the best in Vinales, very comfy, separate from the house, a nice porch, and also has a stocked fridge inside full of water and beer. Gladis is also a amazing cook, very had to turn down with regards to food as she will talk you into it every time, but if you are travelling Cuba, you will realise straight away that 9 times out of 10 the best and only place to eat is in the Casa. She was a amazing cook and each time cooked more than we could handle! So great value for money! If we were to return to Vinales we would make sure that we made this casa our first choice, without any hesitation! Great Value for Money! Gracias Maceo y Gladis! :-))))) You made Vinales a very amazing stay for us! George and Debbie (England)

Disliked: NOTHING!! If you find nothing to complain about, then you should happy to pay the price!

Liked: Best place in Cuba. Gladis is an excellent cook - especially seafood! While Maceo takes care of their beautiful garden. You will find almost everything from coffee to fruits or vegetables there. Try the delicous guava juice. Further Gladis will organize almost everything for you. No matter whether you would like to explore the Viniales Valley by Horse / Bike or on Foot. Do not hesitate to ask her. Explore the " Santo Tomas Cave" guided by their friend Jesus. Or just relax on their terrace practicing Spanish while having a Mojito.

Liked: Gladys and Maceo are the best! They are very helpful and so sweet. Their garden is beautiful and you can just sit outside and enjoy the scenery. Gladys is also a wonderful cook (take the goyava juice and the fish). We would definitely come back, and we will remember Gladys and Maceo as the nicest people we've met in Cuba.

Liked: Gladis and Maceo are a wonderful couple who treated me as one of their family. As a lone traveller, they looked after me well, meeting me off the bus and plying me with delicious fresh juice as soon as I arrived. The self contained room in their garden was delightful and spotlessly clean. Gladis is a real character, not a word of english but constantly chatting away. her food is to die for, fresh, delicious and far too much!! They arranged horseriding for me as soon as I arrived and were on hand to help with anything I needed. Vinales was such a beautiful, sleepy area that I actually stayed on an extra day, which was no problem for Gladis and Maceo. Maceo's garden had every fruit you could imagine, most of which I sampled during my stay. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here, hopefully I will return there soon. Fantastic!!

Liked: Very tranqil location with great hosts. Maceo is the nicest person and will go out of his way to make sure you're comfortable. Breakfast is very good and the facilities comfortable. The room is actually in a separate guesthouse which makes for a very private accomodation.

Disliked: The house is on another road off of Rafael Trejo and I couldn't find it immediately. Don't be afraid to ask the other casa owners standing outside where this place is; they will help you and not try to simply sell you on their own place.

Liked: It was very clean. That was nice, but the overall experience wasnt good.

Disliked: The host offered us dinner for duoble the price of the normal restaurant across the road (which is by the way really good) and when we denied the offer she switched to being bitchy. The shower has an electric heater head that is not isolated whatsoever so you have to take a cold shower or really watch out if you dont want to be shocked. The AC unit is extremely loud. We had to switch it off in order to be able to sleep, but then you cant sleep because of the heat ... so you try to find a solution ... we didnt.

Disliked: We wanted to rent 2 bikes, Gladys said that she helps to get them. The bikes were much worse than bikes at the renting office but they were in the same price. Gladys didn't let us bargain with the guys.

Liked: Gladis´s Place is a good place to stay in friendly rooms with own simple bathroom for a good price.

Disliked: Be prepared to a friendly host, who is used so to people booking meals at her place that it is difficult for her to accept a “no thank” you (than she is more business-woman than host). But once she understands she can be very lovely. Really. The shower is o.k., but it has no pressure, it is not warm enough, especially when the nights are cold. The hostel is a bit further away from the centre ( but Valle Viniales is small). The garden is tropical but it has no view; nothing really special about it as discribed in the Internet. Altogether we can recommend it.

Liked: Maceo and Gladys are a lovely couple, Maceo met me off the bus with a card with my name on it. There is only one room but it is detached from their house so you have your own key and privacy. It was ensuite, very clean, aircon, fan, with hot water. A small sitting area outside. Breakfast and eveining meal provided if wanted. I had the breakfast, fresh fruit, fresh coffee made with beans from the garden, milk, bread, butter, eggs, a huge amount. Would definately recommend.

Disliked: Nothing, it was perfect.

Liked: We had a fantastic stay with Maceo y Gladis. They welcomed us like family to their beautiful home. We stayed in the small apartment room next to the main house. It was very clean and had everything we needed. Gladys cooks delicious food and LOTS of it...we never managed to eat everything!! Most of the ingredients come from their beautiful garden, even the coffee beans!! If you are coming to Vinales and need a place to stay we highly recommend staying with Gladys and Maceo. You won't regret it and you'll have a great time. They are really hospitable hosts and will help you organise tours and will look after you very well. Gladys even insisted on doing our washing at no charge!

Disliked: Nothing to note.

Liked: Gladis and Maceo are such friendly, helpful people who made us feel at home in their house. Gladis is a fantastic cook and made fresh meals for us with fruit from their garden, which was wonderful. Maceo went out of his way to help us get tickets for our bus out of Vinales - even spending an hour at the bus station helping us get on the waiting list. Gladis and Maceo even helped us arrange a tour of the National Park which was a wonderful way to spend our time there. We cannot recommend their casa enough - it is the perfect place to stay in Vinales.

Liked: Gladis is so full of energy! As soon as we arrived, we felt at home. She was our Cuban mother. We had our own seperate 'guest house' next to the house. We stayed for four nights and thouroughly enjoyed every minute. Gladis helped organize a horse back ride tour through the valley, which was a great way to see the countryside. Dinner and breakfast was always good, accompanied by fresh fruit juice from their garden. Maceo is super proud of the garden and will take you on a tour, pointing out each tree. We had a couple of Salsa lessons with their son, Osmel on the back porch, and went from nothing to 4 spins!! Gladis, Maceo and Osmel are fantastic hosts who are more than happy to help you out with anything. My Spanish improved so much over the four days as well.

Disliked: Nothing! If you don't speak Spanish though, communication might be a little more difficult.

Liked: Maceo and Gladys do not speak much English but communication is not a problem, and they are very warmhearted and welcoming. They have a very impressive fruit garden in the back that supplies your fresh juice and delicious meals. Gladys's chicken dinner is especially yummy. They are also happy to find you bicycles to rent and to introduce you to a guide who does horseback tours of the valley. They keep a guest book of extensive comments from previous guests, which can provide insights on what there is to do in the area. They were also understanding when we had to cancel the second night of our reservation (due to a change in a friend's plans) and gave us close to a full refund.
