Annie PaulMarta's Guest House itself is absolutely beautiful, immaculately kept antique furniture, the 14th fl apt has spectacular views of the city. Martha herself is a sweetheart. When i reached there eventually (I arrived with a printout of the Hostelbookers booking i'd made, assuming the address for the guest hse on it and found out on reaching Havana that i didn't have a street add or phone no. for the Guest House. had to use internet at the Hotel Presidente to recover this info and email Marta who immediately walked over to the hotel to fetch me) i was shown my room in an apt on the 5th floor which was also v. lovely. Alas i spent only one night there. when i got back from my conference late the next night it was to be told that my room was needed urgently 'for family purposes' and that i was being moved to another apt bldg which was much closer to the conference venue. needless to say i was v. upset, especially as the other apt was not as well appointed. In the end tho i was very happy there, it was v. clean, the owners and staff were super friendly and nice and the location couldn't be beat. Only a couple of blocks from the Malecon and one block from the Casa de las Americas where i had to be everyday. Also next door to the Hotel Presidente. in fact my room overlooked the Hotel pool. so although i found the way i was moved very jarring i think overall i still got good value for my money. If you can actually stay at Marta's apt on the 14th floor you would have lucked out. i hope to do that on my next visit. |

ANTONIO GARCIA QUESADWe are in Cuba vhere he was flying a route. Tehe first three days we were staying in this house and leaving aside for the last day of the trip we returned to our country. That last night we go home late, what was our surprise that Martha told us that he could not lodge in his house and took us to her friend who was 2 floors above and not told us anything more. Upon reaching he room and gave us for asking prince, whic was our surprise it was much higher. I commented to her and her friend that was not remember the price he had paid previously, and was replay not remember the price we had paid. An the excuses wre pathetic as that room is more beautiful. Finally we looked for another room because we were really angry an not so much the price but by the arrogant attitude. Our opinion should receive the service for the home and hired on the terms aggredd upon, and if you can not give me this service we received another but always less than the price that we agreed we should have at the beginning. We fell cheated. |

Tim DalbyA tip for staying here is that although you can walk along the Malecon into town It is quite a long way, so only worth doing once if the sun is blazing. So just down the road outside the Hotel Presidente you can jump on the open top Habana bus tour which will whizz you to downtown and all around all day for just 3 CUC |

Richard DormandyIt was quiet and friendly, very peaceful. Our host was generally non-intrusive but always helpful when asked. It was very clean and everything worked well. Sheets etc were changed very regularly which was really nice, there were fantastic views a fridge in the room, and a very good value local cuban restaurant down the road. |

Andrew ScottI found Martha's house the perfect place to stay on our arrival in Cuba. While its location in Vedado is admittedly a taxi-ride away from the old city, Vedado is an extremely nice part of the city and there's plenty going on there. In any case, riding in a taxi is an essential part of the Havana experience. The hostel itself is very pleasant with fantastic views. I can't praise Martha enough - not only was she excellent when I fell ill for a couple of days, she also set us up with accomodation when we came back to Havana before going home. Definitely recommend staying here. |

Richard DolanMartha is kind and hospitable and provides very comfortable and secure accommodation. Her apartment amounts to a great initial base on arrival in the country, especially if you are new to Cuba. The rooms are comfortable and secure; the view from her balcony as good as any in Havana and the advice and information she provides honest and reliable. The breakfast is good if not great. As others have said, whilst the apartment is close to the Plaza de la Revolucion and the Malecon it is nonetheless some considerable distance from the main sights and sounds of old Havana which makes for a long walk or the mounting costs of regular transport. Martha is a highly experienced host who provides an excellent service which I warmly recommend. |

Fabrizio EspositoSince Marthas Guesthouse is located in Vedado which is a more quiet, greener area of Havanna it is more recommendable for a stay then the centre with it's everlasting noisiness and often dirty and crowded streets. There are many paladares and restaurants nearby (for example Decameron in Linea, between paseo and calle 2 (reachable in 15 minutes walk). To Havanna Vieja and the centre you have to take a taxi (6 cuc to havanna vieja, 4 to the centre). Marthas Guesthouse is very clean, she changes the towels every day, rooms are cleaned every day. There is a minibar which you can use and a safe (both included in the price, beside the drinks in the minibar). The breakfast is quite expensive (5CUC) but it's great!! It includes juice, fresh fruits, tea, coffee, crumbled eggs, beans and bread with marmelade. And you can take it in the balcony where you have a wonderfull view over the city. We had a great time there and recommend it absolutly! |

John & Penny CockbillMarta speaks excellent English, is very helpful & runs a smooth establishment. Of all the casa particulares we used in Cuba, Marta's was the highest standard. For this we paid a little more but felt it was worth it. There seemed no need for Marta to promote HostelBookers so I do not understand the ned for this question. |

Bjorn MeijerNice appartment on 14th floor, great view over the city and ocean! And very clean! Martha is a very friendly, caring woman. Every day a nice home made breakfast (not included) and every day new, fresh towels and linen (included). If I have to mention a minor thing, it might be the distance to old city centre; 30 min walking or 5-10 ,in by taxi (5 cuc) |

Helen ToulsonThe accommodation was lovely – it felt like a luxury compared to other homestays. The room was spacious and spotless and guests are able to use the whole apartment which makes you feel at home. The apartment has balconies all around with lovely views of the area. It is cheap and very easy to get a taxi into Cubana Vieja. The breakfast was delicious and filling with a real homemade feel. Martha is a wonderful, unassuming hostess who speaks good English. All in all it was the best place we stayed in Cuba by far – I would definitely go back! |
