Liked: Everything was great. Ida ( Rolando's mother) did not speak English so communication was a little difficult but we muddled through. The house was fantastic and the cooking great. Ida made us lobster dinner one night (very reasonable cost for this) and it was the best of our whole Cuban vacation. The house was full - all three rooms were booked and the other guests were great as well. It was centrally located and we walked everywhere- putting on about 60km the time we were there. Neighbourhood seemed very safe- even walking around at night. I would stay again if i was going back to Cuba. Highly recommend this Casa.

Liked: I loved the family who ran it. They were consistently helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We had breakfast and evening meal at the casa as it was so easy and cheap, and the owners were more than happy to cook for us. I would recommed this stay every time.

Disliked: We arrived quite late and in the dark and wondered what or where we might be. It all appeared a bit seedy and scarey. However after wondering around Havana, it would appear that lots of the streets have a similar feel. Please don't be put off, as we walked it most dark nights and felt very safe. This is not really a dislike.

Liked: Rolando was very helpful and gave us all the important information and interesting information about the city and area that we were staying in. He keeps the property immaculate. There were books and maps for us to use as well. His mother Magaly was a very sweet woman who cooked us a nice breakfast and did not speak English but was patient with my attempts at Spanish and would take the time to talk a bit with me. The location is not far from shopping and tourist area's, walking give's you a good view of how average people live there and there are always taxi's & bicycle taxi's for hire. You can barter with them for a good rate and it's very safe.

Disliked: A couple times the doorbell was rung at odd times like late at night or early in the morning, not sure why.

Liked: Very friendly and helpful staff, always able to explain things to us. Great location makes you feel a p[art of daily Habanero life and walking distance to the more touristy areas.

Liked: At first sight we we're very pleased. We expected much less of Cuba. But after visiting six other Casa's around Cuba, this place really is'nt anything special. Fine room, very standard Cuban Casa Particulares (and that is good!). Rolando speakes good english and learns you about the do's and dont's in Cuba. The location is in-between two great spots and definitely in walking distance to a lot of places. But there are lot's of rooms with just as good or better location. For the same price we got a much better room at new years eve in Havanna - booked the day before. Like everyone else in Cuba, Rolando fixed the next place for us in Vinales and then we were on his list meaning that when we got our Casa in Vinales to book in Cienfuegos, she called on his list. In Cienfuegos we met some other travellers who recommended a place in Trinidad, which we called. Within few hours Rolando called our Casa and got mad at them and us for 'breaking the list'. I don't understand how he fund out and why we had to get involved, but it was kind of scary. But in the end it caused no trouble. You really only need to book a place at your arrival and then they will sort out the rest day-by-day. It works great and we had good experiences 5/6 times. So no worries. You can go with Rolando or someone else, it don't really matters much.

Disliked: That he got mad at us for doing nothing wrong. We only saw Rolando at arrival and when we had to pay and between that we only saw the granma, who spoke very fast and non-understandable spanish. That was, though, also an experience. And even though we did'nt understand her, she was, like all Cubans, very warm and friendly.

Liked: I have stayed at the Casa for six nights totally. The execellent casa where is very clean and the family of the casa are very helpful for everybody, especial ly, the owner, Rolando who can speak many different languages and solve all problems for all travellers. I thanks for the assistance from all of his family. I am highly recommend this casa for all travellers.

Disliked: It´s just a little bite not good that the location of the casa get a little long distance and it need to take about half hour for walking to the town centre (Central Park). But it´s quite good that it´s only a straight way and easy to go. It´s not a big problem. I´m still high recommend ¡¡¡

Liked: Nice place, everyone was super friendly. Casa located in Centro Havana and is about 1km from the tourist area. Felt safe in the area at night and the breakfast was good.

Liked: Living in Rolando's casa is a real experience. We can watch the local people walking and doing business on the balcony. Rolando gives us a very clear introduction of Cuba. His mother is a great host, too (though she doesn't speak English). It is a bit far away from the sights in Centro, but it's cheap and fun to take a bici-taxi ride.

Liked: Rolando and his family are really friendly. The place is perfect, and Rolando's tips for a safe trip to Cuba are useful and appreciated. As for the location, it's the best place to see the real Havana, and it's a 10 minutes to the old town and Vedado.

Liked: Very friendly people who helped and informed us a lot! I would definitely go there again! It is a great place to start your journey here! We even ended it with one last night ni Havanna and we could leave our bags there all day and even use the private shower. Thank you Rolando, Magaly and the charming mother of Rolando!

Liked: We enjoyed our stay at Rolando and Magaly’s house. The introduction to habana that Rolando gave us was excellent. Rolando’s family was helpful and very friendly. We felt like we were in our own house and were pleasantly surprised how secure we felt in the house and surrounding location. The placed offered everything we were looking for, that is, privacy, cleanliness, quietness, and a comfortable room with A/C. We would and hopefully will stay there again and will recommend friends and family to stay there. Jason and Agustina

Liked: Hi you travellers! Me and my three freinds (all girls) had the most beautiful time in Cuba and Havanna! Rolandos place is the best to stay!!! Rolando gives you the best advices and hints. He knows some of the best casa paticulares around Cuba and provides help no matter what you need! Me and my girls just loved it! And his mother cooking us breakfast every morning was so sweet, too! Have fun you guys :)

Liked: The casa is in a very central place in Havana (old Havana). It locates at 10 minutes walking distance to the Parque de Centrale (central park) and the Havana University. The place and the service is great value for the money, especially compared to the food and facilities outside. The room is in a safe apartment and has an air-conditioning, a large bed for two, linens, a closet and large bathroom. The landlord, Mr. Rolando, is a very gentle man. He not only provides a great service, but also provides local guidance like information about Cuba, local facilities in Havana, to do's and not to do's. There is also a kitchen in the house and you may request breakfast and dinner. Prices are reasonable. Mr. Rolando's mother takes care of the kitchen and the food service. She is a very nice and noble woman. You will enjoy chatting her. She always smiles. I don't speak Spanish at all, and my wife speaks a bit but we got along with her as if we both speak fluent Spanish. We will never forget her. The bottom line is Casa Rolando y Magaly is a very good place to stay if you look for a local place, want to be with Cubans around and want to live the everyday life in Cuba. We strongly recommend this place.

Liked: I loved the location in Habana Centro well away from the tourist area. it was an insight into the real Cuba. Rolando speaks fluent English and gives a brilliant introduction to Cuba, facts, information, advice on safety and how to behave. He was waiting in the street for our taxi when we arrived from the airport at night in the dark....very reassuring and helpful. I loved the faded colonial sitting room, the small balcony overlooking the street where you could see all the local life going on. I liked Rolando's mother who looked after us, a very sweet and gentle lady and who brewed the best coffee in Cuba and provided us with a good breakfast. Rolando couldn't have been more charming and helpful.

Disliked: The bedroom had no windows and a somewhat aged air conditioner. We were sweltering. Otherwise, it was a little shabby but was adequate and had an ensuite bathroom. I suspect the other rooms might have been cooler and Rolando has another property nearby which we didn't see.
