Maksimir Hotel is about 3.2km (2 miles) east of the center is Zagreb's biggest park and popular among families, dog walkers, and couples going for a stroll. Opened in the late 18th century, it has five lakes and a cafe, and it houses the Zagreb City Zoo. The park is easily accessible via tram (no. 11 or 12 from Trg Jelacica) and it's free (except for the zoo). Exit the tram at the Bukovacka stop, which is steps from the entrance.
