Liked: Property was good for the price. short tram ride to the center. the female staff member working the night shift was very helpful

Disliked: They do not take luggage- however advise you to take it to the train station- if you have to do this I'd advise to arrive early as the lockers all fill up pretty quickly. Also there was a "security guard" roaming around, who didn't introduce himself as security, he just told us to get out of the common area in 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes he told us to go to bed... he was dressed like a police officer, but then roamed around the hostel and came into our room during the night because he thought he smelled cigarettes. (the lamp nearly caught on fire and was smoking) Aside from this unannounced security guard the place was fine. I would of been more concerned if I was there alone.

Liked: The outdoor area is nice

Disliked: The hostel is very strict about its rules, for example when it comes to arriving fifteen minutes late and finding that your bed is no longer free but you still have to pay for it. Other people were offered to sleep on the sofa at a (not very) reduced rate, but when they got in the sofa was taken, and luckily they had a tent and could camp on the patio. When prolems such as these arise, the manager goes completely nuts and shouts at the guests who have run into problems, very angry and unfriendly and unproffessional. The other staff are much more helpful and other than that its a nice hostel.

Liked: Unsure whether to stay here?? So were we, as there are good and bad reviews… - Only a handful of tram stops to the city centre/train/bus station. - Clean bathrooms/bedrooms - Secure. Gate lock. Building lock. Room lock. Lockers for hire.

Disliked: - Rude host/owner/manager. Unfriendly. Mildly aggressive personality. Lacks compassion for weary travellers. Enforces rules eg check in after 2pm. - Must pay for towel, or provide own towel. - Only eat own food in common area (basement) which has creepy wall paintings. - Common area closed at 10:45pm so owner/manager can sleep. - Wifi only works in common area (basement) - No kitchen facilities/fridge - Hot dorm room: No fans/airconditioning. Sunlight comes in window realllly early.

Liked: It is around 20 minutes very fast walk from train station / city centre. The place is secure at night, so much so that the key we were given did not work and we were forced to scale the building to enter at 1am. Toilets clean, showers warm (but no shower head).

Disliked: The owner leaves annoying signs on the gate saying he is not there. We had to phone his mobile (this was like 5pm, not a rediculous hour) and he said he would be 2 minutes. 25 minutes later another guest saw us and went to fetch him, turns out he was just having a beer in the garden and was ignoring us. There is no luggage storage, so of you have bags, be prepared to walk and pay for storage at station. Also, at 10am he will ensure you are off the premises very sharply (we were trying to book a train at 10:02am and were hurried out).

Liked: NOTHING

Disliked: REALLY HARD TO FIND!!! we had been traveling non stop for 4 weeks when we got here. when they say people are idiots who cant find it they are being ridiculous! the yellow feet are worn away and you have to go away from town for a while. we got lost for over an hour and when we arrived a man rang because he was lost and when he arrived he was a headteacher from london who couldnt find it! honestly the worst place ive ever stayed. there was thre bunk beds in a room small then a prison cell you have random peoples feet in your face! they have a massive sign when you get in telling you how they no they are an amazing place and nothing you say will change that. you have to eat their food and their drinks they claim they want you to have "croatian food but its a bbq its meat meat is meat. and water is water whether youve bought it from them or not! then at 11pm you are sent to bed!! the top bunks side to stop you fallen out is put on the bottom so you cant sit on the bottom bunk and you fall off the top bunk. there is one bathroom between 25 people!

Liked: Marco! It was a good location and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We were offered a BBQ and Beer as soon as we got there and had a lot of fun on both nights!

Disliked: Not a lot - the toilets and rooms were basic but you get what you pay for.

Liked: The accomodation was good - bathrooms were clean and beds were comfortable. There is a good common room and garden, which is great for meeting people.

Disliked: The cost advertised by the hostel does not include the tourist tax, we got a bit of a surprise when the balance to pay was more than expected! This should be made clear on the booking form,

Liked: Above all friendliness of the owner and generally everyone we met there. Despite having a broken leg he really went out of his way to help us with everything. We were slightly off season, but it was obvious that this place would be really lively in the summer. There are really helpful city guides that you can borrow and give you all the info you need. Great directions, just take the tram (direct link to center) then follow the yellow feet!). Bathrooms plenty and clean. I wouldn't just recommend staying here, I would insist upon it!

Disliked: Just don't come expecting to cook your own dinner, supermarket shuts at 8 and there isn't a guest kitchen. Though BBQ in high summer sounds great.

Liked: Common room with internet. Wifi also available in the common room.

Disliked: 1.Hot showers did not last long. 2. "yellow steps", which we were supposed to follow to get to the hostel were partly not visible (washed out). 3. I needed to cancel my second stay and emailed the owner 4 days ahead of time asking for the confirmation. I did not get any reply for the next 2 days. When I called two days ahead he just said he does not have time to answer and why do I expect him to even be in front of his notebook. I mean, how am I supposed to cancel the booking via email then? Good thing I emailed 4 days ahead and called 2 days ahead of time. Consider that if you want to cancel your reservation on a short term.

Disliked: The strictness. There were just too many rules. You couldn't check in until 4pm, if you arrived before you could only leave your luggage in a tiny "storage room" in the garden completely unsecure. The staff seemed to have better things to do than help you most of the time. You weren't allowed to bring any food or drink into the hostel, they expected you to buy overpriced stuff from them rather than from the supermarkets and there was no kitchen facilities at all. The private rooms are surrounded by the dorms so its quite loud there and always a fight for the bathrooms. The beds are unbelievably squeaky. Had the worst nights sleep there of the 5 week trip!
