Liked: The location is excellent and the rooms were clean. There are no extra facilities, such as a safe. The owner is helpful if a little brusque - she also thinks the deposit payed through Hostelbookers is a booking fee. It is not very social, but good value for money.

Liked: I really like the location which is about 10 min to the important pick ups of busses, trains and ferrys. The staff is really easy-going and you won't have trouble with them if you don't break andy home rules (which are adequate rules).You even have TV on your room. You can come and go as you want... All over... very nice :)

Liked: I cannot recommend the Placida Hostel highly enough. Location-wise, it`s perfect: 10 minutes` walk from the train station, and literally two minutes from Split`s beautiful walled Old Town. The proprietess seems like a bit of a battleaxe at first, but you quickly realise that she has a sense of humour, and makes a point of taking an interest in where you have travelled from and where you are travelling to when you leave. Star of the show, however, is her young assistant, who sits you down when you arrive and talks you through everything that Split has to offer, from beaches and supermarkets to cafe bars, restaurants and discos. Her guide to where to go, what to see and where to be seen proved extremely helpful. The hostel itself is bright and airy, with two very nice (and clean) bathrooms. The proprietess lives in the hostel with her family, so you can`t go round making a racket when you get in from a club at three in the morning, but it does give the place a homely feel. The hospitality continued until our last day, when we were allowed to leave our bags in reception while we went down to the beach, and come back and get showered and changed afterwards, even though we had checked out at 11 o`clock that morning. If you are going to Split, you will not find many nicer hostels than Placida.

Liked: We liked the fact that we booked a private room and actually got a whole apartment. It was set away from the main hostel so we didn't get to meet other guests and party but this suited us at the time. The location is excellent - right in the centre of split!

Liked: The staff were amazingly helpful - they were of more help to us than the tourist office! They really went out of their way to find out info for us. Our apartment was also great - fantastic central location, really comfy, air con, clean and spacious. Would definitetly return.
