Liked: Good location.

Disliked: The lady on reception insists that it is 24hour reception on arrival and that you won't need a key, but the night guard doesn't know who the guests are and the reason you don't need a key is because the door is never locked (do not leave your passports behind the desk incase noone is there when you want to leave). The lockers are small and more than one key can open some lockers. The fridge was small and didn't really work as our milk curdled overnight. the kitchen is really poorly equipped (about one spoon, fork and knife). the mixed showers have some seethrough tiling between them, and the other bathroom where you could have a 'more private' shower didn't have a lock or a shower curtain (just a sign on the door in croatian), never any hot water (apparently about the first 4 people in the whole hostel to shower get some). The aircon only works in some of the rooms and its pot luck as to whether you get it. The main issue is that the staff simply lie to you rather than apologise and admit to some faults. If you have no other options it is an ok hostel but try and look elsewhere (split is very popular so try and book early)

Liked: We met some cool people there and was in a good location.

Disliked: The woman who runs the hostel is not very nice and moved us out of the hostel without letting us know as she had overbooked. She left our bags lying open in the hallway unsupervised all day and then moved us to an apartment when we got back. We were put in different rooms each night with the woman explaining it was because we were only there for 2 days and we had no apology.

Liked: the decoration and location

Disliked: its was so badly organised we made a booking before we arrived and when we came to check in they had filled our beds and there was no room. the sent us to a friend of their's house!! we stayed in his apartment for the night!

Liked: Rooms had air conditioning and it was centrally located.

Disliked: There are only two toilets which is not enough for the number of beds they have, also they had no hot water in the showers. The shower walls are colored see through glass tiles and it is a mixed bathroom.

Liked: location was really good close to town and close walk to the beach

Disliked: LOADS!!! 1. unhelpful staff. stressful check in (2 girls who had booked with hostel bookers arrived only to be told that the hostel didnt have any beds!) REALLY scary security guy at night who was really grumpy and pervy 2. not 24 hour reception. had a really tricky time getting deposit back for the key as no one there (also the key did not work anyway and the security man shouted at us when we asked to be let back in - thought we were going to have to sleep outside the door at one point!!) 3. COLD SHOWERS 4. bad toilets, no toilet paper, one was constantly blocked and the other had no lock (and the crazy cleaner will walk in on you!) 5. tiny and dirty kitchen - no room to swing a cat!! 6. No lockers in room 7. not enough pillows for everyone in the dorm - my friends got stolen! 8. dirty sheets 9. no privacy in the showers as it has glass tiles inbetween the cubicles 10. hotspot and placidia hostel are both the same! 11. No towels at all 12. cannot use the washing machine

Liked: Facility was nice - nice rooms

Disliked: Are not allowed to cook anything in the kitchen -- not enough cups/dishes are provided for the amount of guests staying in the facility. The staff would refuse to place toilet papers in the restrooms for large amounts of time. Guests were left overnight with not toilet paper. The employees locked the kitchen at night (good luck if you are diabetic). The manager was totally unorganized and I witnessed her giving customers' beds away while they were at beach. When the customers returned and were upset about the situation, the manager was screaming at them and forced them to leave, with no where to go. Also witnessed a group of eight guests arrive at 11 pm with their confirmation papers for reserved beds. The manager also have given these guests' beds away and forced them to leave the facility. This situation occurred on a Friday night, one of the hardest nights for a traveler to acquire room and board. Check-ins took a considerable amount of time -- the manager did not have change to provide when payment was made for the room and she never returned the money. My friends and I had booked an eight-bed room. Upon arrival, the manager exclaimed this room had been booked, and stated we could have a four-bed room at a higher price. Having no other option , we were forced to pay the higher amount.

Liked: good location, really nice hostel itself but a chaotic staff/management

Disliked: the woman who owns the place is really nice, but very scattered and it made check-in feel questionable and left us wondering what this place was going to be like. turned out to be fun and fine but only after several long and funny discussions with the owner. this hostel is definitely an experience!

Liked: It has a good location but so does pretty much every hostel in Split it's a small town.

Disliked: The lady who ran it was rude, never there and when she finally would arrive she was off her face. When we arrived she hadn't realized we made a reservation and she had no availability. We were told to go with a man who "worked at tourist information during the day" (doubtful) to go to a private apartment. The apartment was okay but didn't feel safe, boarded up windows with duct tape etc. We stayed there for a couple of nights then on the day of our departure were woken up at 9am (check out was not until 10:30) because needed to move in right then and there. We were rushed out long before check out time and went to check out. The owner/receptionist was again not there. We had to wait 40 minutes for her to arrive even though we had called her the night before to let her know we would be there at 10:30, and it is there check out time. Needless to say we weren't very impressed with the service.

Liked: Placida the owner is a wonderful person - made me feel at home, explained all about the city and went out for drinks with me! The rooms are big, there's a very comfy common living-room, wireless internet and a free-use laptop and even a kitchen you can use for cooking. It's right on top of the main shopping street, 2mins from the Riva and the Diocletian Palace, the main tourist attractions with the bars and restaurants. The hostel itself was very clean and neatly decorated. Loved the place! =D

Liked: I was delighted with the woderful peaceful place for rest at the very hearth of the city. The sraff was also absolutely friendly and full of positive energy with an easy going mediteranian style.

Liked: Have to say I wasn't very impressed with this hostel. For what they charge i would have expected to have a kitchen and better bathing facilities. There is a fridge and two small stoves but not enough to cook a meal...or easily make a hot drink. there is a very good common room wth TV and comfortable sofas. Overall though I'd say the hostel just cram as many people in as possible without much consideration of comfort. The shower room was the biggest annoyance - three (mixed) showers with glass tiles in between them (yes, glass tiles so people can see each other showering) and very thin shower curtains = no privacy. Also, the showers were cold when we used them after coming back from the beach. But on the plus side, the staff were very friendly and helpful (especially when m camera was taken and I had to find a police station) - the girl on reception immediately phoned the police and explained what I had to do.

Liked: nice modern decoration... be aware of the name change- its now called hostel the best! also, mixed not private showers- but they were hot and powerful! location was amazing right next to the old city. staff were not always present.

Liked: Our room was promised to us at 2pm, (2 hours after check in) but we didnt get into our room until after 5pm! When we checked out at 10am two days later, they told us we couldnt sit in the common room for too long as it was for hostel guests only!!! Staff were rude.

Liked: A bit expensive for dorm, on other hand Split is expensive.. Location is really good. Some minor negative things like broken light in bathroom, broken washing mashine and unlock doors for everyone (some strange noises in the middle of the night, like someone banging the doors and walls). Also if you plan to check out early, don't count on staff to be there in 10 minutes. For us it took 1.5 hours. But mainly a ok place. Ps. notice that this hostel obeys also names "best hostel" and "adriatica mare" :P

Liked: The decore and atmosphere in the hostel is very nice, but we found many problems with this place. Firstly there are no keys and the front door to the building and hostel are permenantly open, making it very unsecure. Also there are only 3 showers for the whole hostel, which are mixed sex, and have completely transparent shower curtains, so there is no privacy! Finally, the people which run the hostel never switch the hot water on, so we never had a warm shower the whole time we stayed here.

Liked: The hostel was central to Split, but it was located in a quiet area. The lady at check in gave us very helpful information about every aspect of our stay. The rooms were tidy and the facilities clean. The only aspect that could have been improved were the communal showers that were shared with both men and women. There was no way to shower in privacy. In addition, the shower curtains and showers were transparent.

Liked: It had internet upstairs which was reasonably priced, I think 6 Kuna for an hour. Good location, right in the city centre, although it's pretty hard not to be, cos Split is so small! Pretty clean. Liked the common room for chilling out and chatting to people. Small balcony good for drying your clothes, although opened directly into our room so was noisy at night if people out there and you're trying to sleep. Also meant not as much privacy.

Liked: We liked the nice colors of each room. It was cool to have those coach with the international TV. The only one problem is that we don't have any key so everybody (even strangers) can come in the hostel when they want to.
