Liked: location

Disliked: When we arrived at Guesthouse Top Center we found out that the owner had booked our room out to other people because they were staying in Split for longer and she could make more money. It was 9pm and we were tired from our flight so we had little choice but to accept the other accommodation she offered us which was nearby but did not have the ensuite we had booked. We were charged the same price despite the room we were given and she kept the booking fee which is ridiculous considering our room had not been booked for us!

Liked: The woman we stayed with was like a mom to us, she made sure we got home safe, hung our bikinis to dry and was cleaning all day long. There were two rooms which could accommodate 7-8 people. We met some really nice people there and the woman was very friendly, although her english is not so good. Great location in the old centre of Split.

Disliked: The hostel is located in a narrow street, quite hidden. When we entered the steps there was poo in the hallway and the smell was awful. It got cleaned up but it happened twice. The accommodation however pretty much made up for it!

Liked: great location, had friendly people staying there aswell which was a bonus

Disliked: this is not a hostel but an apartment with 2 rooms. while it had a kitchen and washing machine the lady was not 2 keen on us using either. she also hid the remote 2 the aircon one day and took it away another. great place if u want 2 relax and sight see but she frowned on us drinking in the apartment.

Liked: Good location.

Disliked: The owner. I booked to stay in the 5 bed dorm and after arriving from a very long bus trip I was told there was no space and that the room had been booked out."my daughter must not have checked the internet first" was the reason given. I said hmm well I booked on hostel bookers and I really need somewhere to stay for the night. I also asked if I could quickly use the bathroom and was told there was one around the corner, she had the nerve to walk me to a public pay-to-use toilet around the corner instead of letting me use hers which I thought was unbelievable under the circumstances. Anyway after playing mister nice guy for a while she tried calling friends that may have somewhere for me to no avail- I walked back to the place with her and after she realised she was going to have to sort something out for me she walked down the hall to the supposedly full room knocked on the door and asked the 3 guys (of a 5 bed room) if it would be ok for me to stay-they said no problem and I stayed?? No idea what was going on perhaps they had asked to have the room to themselves or something? After that I was made to feel as if I shouldnt be there by the owner which I thought was very rude, she even said "this is not a hostel it is my house". Finally later on and the next morning she started trying to be nice and I think this was because she realised I could write a review which is what I am doing now. It was an experience that's for sure but not a good one.

Disliked: there is nobody to ask some questions... the staff is not so many times there
