Location Information
The Island Of Korcula is one of the greenest islands in the Adriatic sea. It is also one of the most popular travel destinations in this part of Croatia. Like most of the Croatian islands, the Greeks, who gave it the name Korkyra Melaina or 'Black Corfu' for its dark and densely wooded appearance, first settled Korcula.
The island itself is rich in art and culture, as well as beautiful nature such as numerous tiny and secluded beaches and bays, small and uninhabited islands and breathtaking views. The main town on the island is also named Korcula. It is a typical medieval walled Dalmatian city, with its round defensive towers and cluster of red-roofed houses.
What to do on the Island?
You may wish to see the opposite side of the island, visiting the town of Vela Luka or many other small villages.
Each of these small places on the island do have its own natural bay-beaches. One of the best is the Lumbarda beach, which is some 10-minute-drive from the house.
The major evening entertainments/events are in the downtown area, which include the old traditional games, restaurants with the Dalmatian specialties and standard Italian fast food.
Outside the town villages you can also visit the many nice restaurant with traditional Italian menu.
You may also go for a one-day trip to the second-largest Croatian peninsula of Peljesac, or you may decide to visit the national park on the island of Mljet or Lastovo. You may also pay a visit to the medieval town of Dubrovnik or Ston or Mostar and still stay overnight on the island of Korcula.
You can rent a boat slow or fast, bikes, scooter. Rent office space which you can find at hotel Bon Repos or in the center of the town.
Diving center is also located in Bon Repos.
