Liked: Cheap Close to supermarket (Lidl)

Disliked: It was independence day so there was a BBQ on and people were in party spirits - I was really tired and not really up for this but because we were in a huge dorm couldn't really get away from it. People were talking the whole night and being pretty inconsiderate. Its okay if you like the large dorm/backpacking vibe of a hostel and the sociable-ness of it all, but that made me realise its not for me. Plus I think we got bed bugs from that hostel and there was nobody at the reception desk when we arrived so we had to put our bags in a dorm (for which all the doors were left open - although there are lockers provided) and leave a note saying we would be back later.

Liked: The common room and welcome shot were really appreciated. The common room had a great atmosphere and was a great start to the night. The hostel was located ~200 metres from a nearby LIDL supermarket which was great for buying in food to later cook at the hostel.

Disliked: Upon arrival we were informed that there had been an error with our booking, and that the room we initially booked via HostelBookers wasn't available. Subsequently, we were re-located to 'sobe' 200 metres away and were assured we could still use all the facilities of the hostel. This wasn't ideal as our group was split up and distant from the other residents of the hostel. When we did venture over to the hostel there were regular power cuts and the cooking area was dirty.

Liked: staff and social side

Disliked: disgusting, unclean, half the people weren't paying for their stay. wifi only worked in one room (false advertising) GUEST kitchen run out of gas and was filthy (false advertising) shower didn't work (false advertising) NO AIR CON (false advertising) the staff had their own kitchen, pretty much everything was labelled 'staff use only' - what a joke! our kitchen was in SOMEONE'S DORM!! people were sleeping in corridors on lilo's, the whole common room was over taken by the staff (there were about 20 of them) as the staff weren't being paid they probably didn't really care about the cleanliness of the hostel etc. But it was social and everyone went out together.

Liked: Adequate wifi, except only in the lobby, Free computers for use, Lockers (Although not backpack size as advertised), Location was decent, 5 minute walk to the beach.

Disliked: The hostel is run by unpaid staff who recieve free accommodation (ie lilos on the floor) therefore they had little motivation to be helpful and to provide cleaning services and their main interest was drinking and then sleeping the next day. The hostel was extremely was dirty as the place was never cleaned, including the kitchens, the bathrooms and the dorm rooms. There were dirty laundry piles in the stairwell, which had a bad smell because they had been sitting there so long. Staff and their friends or family were often sleeping on lilos or bare floor wherever there was a space (ie in the stairwell for us to trip over), half the people staying at the hostel were not even paying guests they were friends and family of the owener. At the time of our stay there was one functional shower for approx. 50 people, this includeds guests and staff and family. The bathroom was constantly flooding due to poor plumbing. We were unable to shower during our stay because of long waiting lines and constant plumbing issues. The "guest kitchen" was located in one of the 6 bed dorms, so people in this room never got sleep or privacy. The kitchen was not at all properly equipped with crockery and cutlery or cleaning products. The gas supply in the kitchen ran out while people were attempting to cook their dinner, with no gas back up. The linen provided, did not appear clean as they had stains on them and smelt. There was no security in this hostel, the front door was always unlocked and their were no locks for the dorm rooms. There was only someone at reception when they decided to wake up in the morning, which could be at any time, we found the staff to be extremely lazy in terms of cleanliness and organisation. The 6 bed dorm that we stayed in was so small and cramped so we had nowhere to put our backpacks. Overall this was the worst hostel we have ever stayed at and would never recommend this.

Liked: The atmosphere is amazing. Met so many amazing people who are always ready to party!

Disliked: Its very difficult to find! Needs more signage.

Liked: Easy to get to, especially as I got a lift from the ferry by chance, as staff were there to pick up other guests at the same time.

Disliked: It was quite dirty and lots of things seem to be broken e.g. toilet seat not attached and slides off when sat on and guest cooker doesn't work (but we were aloud to use the staff oven).

Liked: An absolute party hostel! Staff and guests going out every night. The organised day trip around the island is great. Very close to a small beach. The 16 bed room was very spacious!

Disliked: the staff are rather unorganised and there are only 2 bathrooms in the whole place.

Liked: We loved the staff!! Vinko, Andy, Amy, and MJ were all amazing!!! Everyone was very helpful in answering all our questions on where to go etc...Everynight the staff takes you out and shows you a good time!!not to mention Vinko is absolutely hilarious!! We recommended the funky donkey to everyone we met on our travels!! -Ken and Barbie

Liked: Its great location, the amazing staff and owner !!! Vinko you are a Legend !!! Staff would go out of their way to help you out, tell you about all the good things to do on island or recommendations.....Marcus even offered to drive us around the island on a day trip, which was fantastic!!

Disliked: Nothing.....!!! The whole experience was fantastic, they really made you feel welcome, the hospitality was top notch !!......Will be definitely staying there again, and recommending it to all my friends, family, work collegues...... : )

Liked: This hostel is almost like staying at friends-everybody of the staff is soo relaxed! So if you feel like having fun at night, meet people (its sure you will) and relax during the day, this hostel is perfekt!one of my favourites!!!

Disliked: cleanliness bad attitude of staff, too many of them passing the blame and being constantly drunk not beds that we booked resulting in sleeping in the staff room staff taking all the lockers demanding payment at 12 at night with no warning no information given at all especially regarding the terrace closing and being forced back into our room to drink piles of rubbish in and around the kitchen resulting in flies etc. no security

Liked: The staff of the hostel were all extremely friendly and helpful; we didn't go partying with the rest of the guests but heard that it was fantastic. Very fun atmosphere. Our room was very basic but clean.

Disliked: Some rooms are in separate houses from the main hostel, a few minutes' walk away & not so integrated socially. The walk from the Supetar waterfront is a five minute climb up a steep hill, and the twin beds in our room were quite uncomfortable.

Liked: I really enjoyed my stay there the people are so lovely ,friendly & helpful...The hostel is kept clean at all times will definely be back and recommand Funky Donkey Hostel GREAT PLACE :) i meet loads of great traveller's had so much fun & actitive to do & the beach are also beautiful..... Traveller's go to Funky Donkey Hostel you will have a blast :) !
