Connections from Mainland:-
Split - Hvar Town; the best and most convenient way is by catamaran; these depart from Split at 11:30. 15:00 and 17:00
- Alternatively you can take a ferry to Stari Grad (only recommended if departing after 17:00) and then catch a shuttle from there to Hvar town- hurry to catch the bus.
- Dubrovnik - Hvar; the bus connection via Split goes approx every two hours- Connection via Drvenik is definitely not recommended
There are 2 ways from downtown to get House-Zakaria depending on where you're coming from. Either way it's just a five minute walk:
1) If you land (by catamaran) at Hvar Town harbor:
Turn left as you get off the boat and walk along the harbor for 90 meters passing the Pizzeria MAMA LEONA till you face the cafe RED BARON. Turn right and follow the path alongside the SPLITSKA BANK till you reach a narrow street. Here on the left you find the restaurant JUNIOR. In front of it a pedestrian street (lane) goes straight up the hill. Walk up 90 meters these steps passing at first JAZZ Bar on your left and 2 short alleys on you right. After arriving at a small plateau choose the steps on your right and walk up (about 30 meters) and follow this street as it turns left to another plateau. Soon you will face an abandoned house which splits the 2 staircases. Take the steps to the left and walk up another 30 meters till a final plateau. There you see a garden and the black metal gate on your right - Welcome to our house!
2) If you’re arriving to Hvar town by bus from Stari Grad...
- Head for the main square (about 50 meters from the bus station). Once you’re there cross the tower and the church front to the other corner of the square. Turn left and go into a narrow alley (pedestrian street) flanking the church. Take the first set of steps on your right, up to the tapas restaurant Konoba Luviji. Continue walking up another 10 meters past this restaurant, keeping it to the right. Soon you face a wall with a tree above it. Take the narrow set of steps on the right side, directly behind a large barrel and follow these steep steps around this tree until you reach the top. Turn left into the street then take the first set of stairs on your right. Follow this steep staircase to the top end of it, where you finally reach a plateau facing our house. Turn bit to the right few meters and open a black metal gate -Welcome to our house!
