Liked: The couple who owned the property were great, to get to the hostel you have to walk up quite a lot of stairs. When we arrived tired and hot we were greeted with drinka and biscuits. They give you maps and make sure to point out local info such as bus stops, supermarkets, banks, bakers e.t.c. All really helpful! They also brought us fresh veg grown from there garden, really lovely people.

Liked: Nice, ultra-clean room with a bathroom shared between the other rooms. We stayed in a private triple which consisted of a single and a double bed. The room also had a shared balcony with a few chairs looked out over Dubrovnik (not the old town area though). Anna is very friendly but didn't speak English but we got along fine with international sign language! Cold juices were brought out after a hot slog up the hill with our stuff which was nice. No curfew and the number 8 bus goes fairly close to the apartment but if you are coming fro9m the old town it will have to circle past the bus station on the other side of town first. Walking from Pile gate is about a half hour walk uphill otherwise. No a/c but the room wasn't overly hot. Washing machine was 8 Euros. Hot water for the shower comes from a small tank in the bathroom which doesn't last too long. Overall excellent value

Liked: very nice and kindly couple!Attention: you have to walk lots of stairs from the street till the appartment, but if you ask, the "master of the house" will help you with the luggage.

Liked: Anka is the best. We ended up missing our train and so arrived a day late and weren't charged for the night we missed. We arrived at something like 7 or 8 in the morning, and Anka and her husband were already up and got us to our rooms immediately. Then she made us coffee and gave us a huge bowl full of cookies. She's just incredibly sweet. The hostel isn't really within walking distance of the old town, but the buses are easy enough to find out. I think they arrive about once an hour. The only thing I can really think of people having problems with is that Anka and her husband don't speak much English--I however didn't find this to be a problem. They are kind and willing to try to figure out what we were trying to say.

Liked: Great value for money. It's quite a walk from the main square, but it saved us sooooo much money, that I can't complain. I do recommend they get an air conditioner. It can get really hot there. We went in August, and boy was it hot!The hosts were super friendly even though the old lady couldn't speak a lick of English!

Liked: the lady who runs it is very friendly and accomodating, she goes out of her way to help you, she even cooked our dinner for us when there was no kicthen facilities for our room, even though she does not speak very much english at all.

Liked: A lovely, family-run hostel in a quiet part of Dubrovnik. Everyone was very friendly and eager to make our stay a happy one, which it was. If you're looking for disco craziness then Anka rooms isn't for you but it's perfect for people who want someone clean and friendly to stay whilst being able to come and go as they please.
