Liked: The hostel was very clean and easy to find. Its only one bus ride or 15 mins walking distance from the old town. I would highly recommend staying here. Ante, the owner was probably the nicest guy you could ever meet, is very informative and really cares for his guests. Ante made our stay special! He took us up to the war museum on the hill and showed us a unique view of croatian history. You wouldnt get this kind of insight ordinarily. Maria, antes wife, made us some cakes and we even got to eat the fresh fruit off the trees. i would recommend going in the summertime. Its beautiful! 100% in every way! . We are planning to go back next year and stay with ante, thats if he has any space! Thanks for all the previous reviews! It helped alot! Heidi and Mike- UK.

Liked: The guesthouse is a short bus journey from the old town and just up the hill from the port, which was perfect for us. Ante, as other reviews suggested, was fantastic and made us feel very welcome, providing us good tips and picking us up the from the port. If he offers to take you to fort / museum overlooking the town, say yes, it was fascinating to hear his commentary on events during the war.

Liked: Staff is very friendly and helpful. They will work to ensure your stay as comfortable as possible. Rooms are clean. You can use a kitchen and there is internet connection included in the price. Despite the location, (a little far away from old town) I highly recommend this hostel.

Liked: First when I booked this from back home (in Sweden), I instantly got an email from Ante (the hostelowner) - welcoming me and my daughter. Good first impression. In that email he said "call when leaving with the bus from the airport, and I'll pick you up at the bus station". Arriving to Dubrovnik in 27 degrees and underestimating the effort to to walk up and down the slopes before finding Antes place, I recommend all new guests to accept the offer of a ride.The twin bedroom was very clean and nice with a remote controlled AC. A kitchen split with 2 other rooms with all the necessary supplies (incl. computer and TV - free of charge) is available. A second stay in one of the Double rooms (today) - gives a REALLY beautiful view over the Dubrovnik Marina and also contains a privat bathroom (which the twin bed room didn't have - BUT had a nice bathroom shared with one other room). Ante (the hostelowner) is a really hospitable and delightful man, that sincerely wants to give you a pleasent stay. He also offers to take you with his car to places (if his time admits). For example: he took me and my daughter and one of the other guests up to a fort that now a days contains a war museum and acted as our own tour guide, and informed us of everything that we saw. He also gave us a map, where he pointed out buses, places to go, where to eat as well as where NOT to eat. Another nice thing is that when you arrive Ante brings you a packet of Juice. And since his garden this time of year (3/10) is full of homegrown grapes, he brougt me and my daughter a bowl of grapes for breakfast. And just a minute ago...he came up with his wifes home made croatian bakery. Soooo friendly!!!Another thing (or two)...There are mask and snorkel free to lend over the day. Ante came up with his dauthers stuff for my daughter to use!This is by far the best hostel I've ever stayed at during my trips all over the world. I really recommend a stay here when visiting Dubrovnik. IF I come back to Dubrovnik (which I hope I can some day) , I will check back if Ante is still around!!!/ David and Malva from Sweden

Liked: Three words JUST STAY HERE,the owner Ante is a great guy and even after we ran out of days at his place he put us with His friend Maria and her family who were also great people.Ante gives you all kind of info and took us on a tour of the old fort for free when he did not have to.Anti woke up at 4:30 am to take us to catch the bus even though we were at his friends house which just shows how much he cares about his guest.We just say STAY HERE.

Liked: Ante, the owner of the guesthouse, is incredibly friendly, he drove us around, told us a lot about the history of dubrovnik, and gave us tips on where to eat!! The flat was great!!!

Liked: This was probably one of the best places we stayed. Ante, the host, was extremely helpful and informative. We were advised of the best restaurants, directions to places, cheapest ferry prices to the islands, we even got ice-cream from his wife while we waited for our bus! The room was extremely clean and you could cook your own food if you like... You can even pick some tomatoes from their garden if you like! Cannot recommend this place enough, they were so helpful and went out of their way for us, and the place was already fantastic without those bonuses!!! You must stay here.

Liked: The S & L Guesthouse was a great place to stay - close walk to the marina and bus stop to get to the beaches. Ante was a wonderful host, and took plenty of his own time out to show us around and ensure we had a good stay. Rooms were nice and clean, as was the meal we made ourselves in the kitchen and ate on the terrace to watch the sunset!

Liked: We only stayed one night after finishing a boat trip, and it was perfect for what we needed. Very comfortable clean room with a lovely view over the harbour. The host ante was very friendly and extremely helpful. The location is not that close to the old town but it is a short bus ride away. I would definitely recommend this hostel to people travelling to dubrovnik.

Liked: Our host Ante was inspiring! His energy is contagious and upon arrival he picked us up from the bus station and gave us an orientation of the city on a map; including directions, places to go and money-saving tips. He also shared with us his history as a Croatian along with his own home-grown tomatoes; and even when he was fully booked, put us up at his neighbor's house. It was our first visit to Dubrovnik and we will definitely be back. The cleanliness of the apartments, peaceful neighborhood and views over the Gruz harbour were 5-star!

Liked: S&L Guesthouse was great - our apartment was really nice and spotlessly clean, and Ante went out of his way to be a good host. I'd highly recommend it!. We had a fabulous time at there. We got a lift to see the best view of Dubrovnik and some other local spots with a bit of personal history to bring it alive. Our stay was great value for money and we got homegrown fruit thrown in too!

Liked: Had a great stay here, Ante is very welcoming and goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable and enjoy the city. View from the hostel is incredible and the rooms were very clean and very spacious. Will definitely stay here again next time I visit Dubrovnik.

Liked: Excellent guesthouse. Ready to go back if I return to Dubrovnik. Close to the harbour and the main bus station, stores, restaurants. Easy to get to the old town. Very calm, very clean, great view. Facilities (access to Internet, Satellite TV, kitchen). Feels indeed like home. And the owner Ante is very nice and helpful: information about Dubrovnik and the surrouding areas, how to organise excursions, where to eat (or places to avoid), free pick up... In a word: perfect!

Liked: The owner was very helpful and welcoming and couldn't do enough to make the stay a good one. The property was very clean, and the kitchen was compact but good, with plenty of utensils to use. Although I stayed for only 1 night I would certainly book a room here if I'm in Dubrovnik again in the future.

Liked: This was the best hostel I have ever stayed in. The standard was so high - it was spotless, with all the extra facilities you could ask for such as TV, internet, towels, soaps, maps and info etc. And the host went out of his way to help and even drives guests on a trip up to a mountain fort with an amazing view of the city from above! Definately a must - we would give it 110% if we could!
