Liked: It was right across from the bus station as mentioned, but make sure you write down the address as there are no signs. Linen was clean.

Disliked: First night we were there the toilet started backing up and filled the whole hostel with the smell of sewerage. There was not 24 hour hot water. The owner turned it off after half an hour so there was barely enough for one of us, kitchen smelt like mice, "locker in dorm" was a big cupboard blocked by the bed and covering the air-conditioner. 20 minute walk into town was 40 minutes and all up hill. Also, woman who runs place is very scary, she walked into our room without knocking while we were changing, and always seemed to pop up spookily out of nowhere.

Liked: The best location in Dubrovnik: it's just across the road from the bus station! Also there are bus stops to and from the centre right outside door. (There's also a good bar as well as a late night general store close by as well). The room I stayed in was large with bathroom en-suite, it was spotlessly clean, the [double] bed very comfortable and there was [I noted] plenty of extra blankets should i have needed them. The kitchen facilities were very good - and clean - as well: plenty of crockery and cutlery. With a daily rate of 250kn, I think any visitor to Dubrovnik would find it difficult to find a better deal. However, there's one extra goody in staying at the Gara: the two sisters who run the place. Apart from being incredibly welcoming and kind I found it was a great delight to not only to have met them but to spent a while in their company.

Disliked: I couldn't find anything wrong with the place whatsoever

Liked: It was really close to the bus station. The place is clean and has a really nice garden. The owner welcomed us with a drink and cookies.

Disliked: We had a limitation on using air conditioning. If the owner decided we use it too long she either came to our room and switch it off by herself or switch off all electricity in our rooms. We also couldn't enjoy those 24h hot showers. The owner was switching off the heater so only 2 from 4 of us could enjoy warm water...

Liked: Very conviently located near the bus station, almost literally across the street. However there was still relatively little road noise. Nearby market and local bus stops were a bonus. Within walking distance of the old town, however it was a bit of a trek, the bus was a much quicker option. Really more of a homestay then a hostel, but the women who owns the establishment was very friendly and more then willing to help and answer any question we had as best as she could.

Disliked: I did not have any major dislikes at this location.

Liked: Excellent location - right opposite the main bus station.

Disliked: We had booked a double room with ensuite but when we arrived the lady had already booked someone else into that room so we had to revert to just a double room and use the main bathroom which was a bit annoying!!

Liked: Extremely friendly and welcoming sister owners that make you feel at home and are very helpful. Air conditioned rooms and bathroom very clean at all times, as is the well equipped kitchen. Location is perfect as very accessible to the old town, supermarkets, bus stop, beaches and more affordable restaurants. Very homely feel, don't have a bad word to say about the place.

Disliked: We liked everything!
