Liked: Nicky was a great guy! he gaves us all the info about Dubrovnic so we knew where to go and what to do. He was always available to ask questions and was always willing to help.

Disliked: The Hill! haha but its a good work out, there are hills everywhere in Dubrovnic

Liked: Nicky was amazing - he was so helpful. He gave us the lowdown on Dubrovnik from a 'local' point of view, picked up our friends from the airport and made the best coffee in Croatia.

Liked: Nicky goes above and beyond as a host. It's like staying with the Croatian family you never knew you had. He will pick you up from the bus station for free. You get a welcome drink (or more if you are lucky). Nicky set up the tv outside so we could watch a soccer match. This is one of my favorite Hostels ever.

Disliked: Nothing :)

Liked: Nicky is awesome. From the get go, he was out to help us in anyway possible. took us on his boat for a cruise (it cost a bit of money, but well worth it). Provided us with a map and things to see that werent all on the tourist network, in this way, we skipped away from being drawn in to paying huge amounts of money, for not really any benefit. His dog was a huge hit with my travelling companions as well. His family are all lovely and helpful, and Nicky is willing to organise almost anything for you.

Disliked: Can't really say anything wrong about this place, besides the large hill at the end of the day is a bit of a struggle. However, there is a bus to catch that saves a lot of trouble.

Liked: Nicky is, as a prior correspondent said "the bomb". He's a hugely enthusiastic expert on the local area and the general art of partying. He's impossible not to like and I get the feeling that he is genuinely as keen for you to enjoy your stay as you are. Rooms are adequate and cheap, and we had access to a balcony with one of the most stunning views of Dubrovnik you could hope for. The overall atmosphere was a tad young for our liking - we're no longer 18 year olds out on our first backpacking trip - but if we were, Nicky Guesthouse would have been the greatest stay in history.

Disliked: Although ideal for the backpacker crowd, Nicky Guesthouse is quite a loud place, the beds are bloody awful and it could have been significantly cleaner. It's seven minutes walk to the bus station however more like 45 from it due to the ENORMOUS hill it's at the top of - take Nicky's offer of a lift or jump bus number 8! However, keep it in perspective - this is a great place to stay!

Liked: The price and the view from the hill. Dubrovnik itself is incredible.

Disliked: 1) It was dirty, there were ants everywhere inside and the floor was not clean. 2) When we arrived, there was a mix up with our booking so we were sent further up the hill to stay with a family member. They made us feel very uncomfortable and followed us around, we were not allowed to use the kitchen or the air con and we were not even given a key to lock/un lock the front door. 3) The room we were then moved to, was not big enough for 4 beds so the door had to be wedged open. 4) The shower would not drain, and the toilet seat had fallen off, neither of these things were fixed or even looked at in the 5 nights we stayed. 5) The property is really far out of Dubrovnik, about 45minutes walk and the bus is really infrequent and takes almost as long. 6) Nicky claims he will pick you up and deliver you, welcome drinks, food etc but we got none of these perks, we turned down a boat trip he offered us because it was 100euros, we then found out that others were offered the same trip for 45 euros each. He was really negative about booking any activities or trips such as kayaking (which was great fun) and discouraged us from exploring the newer town (where we found the better quieter beaches), as well as eating out.

Liked: When you stay at Nicky Guesthouse, you feel like a part of Nicky's family. Nickey is really nice and very proud of his country. He will help you in anyway to have the best time in Dubrovnik. He organised a boat ride for us using his family boat and let us experience a full course Croatian dinner cooked by his mum. We got along very well with the other guests and had a great time.

Disliked: The guesthouse is on a hill but there is a bus stop close by and if it is possible, Nicky drives to where you need to go.

Liked: Set in a really nice, quiet area of Dubrovnik about 25 min walk from the old town, overlooking the sea. Nicky was an extremely helpful and interesting host - he met us at the station, helped us plan our time in Dubrovnik and provided fascinating company in the evenings! The room was fine and airconditioned (considering the heat, v important). Wifi was good, and there was a nice cold water machine.

Disliked: A very steep walk up to the guesthouse. Absolutely knackering, especially in the heat of the summer.

Liked: Nicky was fab, he collected us from the bus station and explained loads of useful things about the city over a coffee when we arrived :) The hostel has lovely terraces to use and meet people. We had a great time here and would recommend it

Disliked: Quite a steep walk into and back from the city, but there's a reliable bus if you don't fancy the climb

Liked: Nicky is great, really helpful and friendly. Rooms were big and clean, and lots of kitchen space and terraces for eating and talking to people. Good transport links and near supermarket etc

Disliked: It is far away from the old town (twenty mins or so walk downhill, double back up!) but that is to be expected at the price.

Liked: Nikki and his family are the bomb! They have tradtional croatian meals will take on boat tours good for couples, backpackers, families etc. Is beyond the price!

Disliked: Be prepared to climb hills

Liked: The view is unbelievable and overcomes the fact its a little bit of a climb if walking from the marina. But really not bad. Walked with groceries all the way up in the middle of summer and was manageable. The directions that are given by the host are very good. Any recommendations Nicky has should be listened to. He is a very helpful host and will cater to anything you would like. Good welcome drink of rakija and a morning coffee that is an eyeopener and can set up trips as well for you. Definitely recommend

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Nicky es un tipo muy agradable. Te ofrecen una excursion a muy buen precido respecto a les que se ofrecen en el centro de Dubrovnick. Su padre preparó una cena increible para los que estabamos alojados y hubo muy buen ambiente. mUY RECOMENDABLE. La habitación es espaciosa y con terraza y parking propios.

Disliked: El único punto negativo es que está lejos del centro, Aunque muy cerca de la zona de salida de los ferries. Hay que subir muchas escaleras y subidas, pero tmabien el acceso en bus está delante de la casa.

Liked: This was one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at! Nicky, the owner, was so incredibly helpful, it was like having our own personal guide of Dubrovnik. He cares about each and every traveler that comes through that door, and would do anything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible! Can't say enough about this place!!!!!

Disliked: Our only complaint could be the distance from the city, walking. However the bus service runs right outside of the hostel, so it is super easy to get around that way!

Liked: Nicky was friendly (but it was all one-way conversation)

Disliked: 1) We were given a twin room having booked a double room 2) This twin room was in the downstairs flat belonging to the grandparents who were overbearing and didn't allow us any privacy. 3) There are no views of the bay/harbour at all in this downstairs area - pointless walking all the way up the hill to stay. 4) The twin room was small, incredibly old fashioned and the whole flat claustrophobic. 5) When we arrived no one was able to find the key to let us in to our accomodation - valuable time wasted. 6) We were offered a drink - which took 20 mins to arrive (and there was no beer as many other reviewers have mentioned) 7) We asked Nicky for airport bus times - he said he'd get them for us - he didn't. 8) Really poor value for money

Liked: Nicky is the man!!! I have been traveling for a year, and this is one of my last stops. I can honestly say this was the best hostel I have ever stayed in. Nicky and his family will do whatever it takes to make you feel welcome. Home cooked food, arrange awesome trips, and genuine friendship is what this place is all about. You would be crazy to stay anywhere else in Dubrovnik.

Disliked: I wish I could have stayed longer.
