Liked: The Begovic family is very caring and even picked me up at the bus station

Disliked: I missed a common room to sit & relax. I guess in summer you can sit on the terrace that has a very nice view but in winter it is too cold.

Disliked: It was a half hour walk to the center, but it was a nice walk.

Liked: It had a beautiful view, and a very nice place to stay! The staff and people of the Hostel were amazing, looking after me very well! I loved it there!!!

Liked: If you ever go to Dubrovnik, stay with the Begovic family. It's fantastic! Mr. Begovic picked us up from the bus station and upgraded us to an appartment for no extra fee. The appartment was a little dated, but it was HUGE and great. All the facilities were there and we could even use the veggie garden! The appt is very well located in Lapad and the busses to downtown Dubrovnik go every 7 minutes or so. Lapad is nice for the bars and beaches.

Liked: It was quiet enough to sleep.

Disliked: We did not stay in the ensuite room offered in the website but I guess in somebody's appartment in the neibourghood. The appartment had kitchen, bathroom and 2 bedrooms, one of them with one bed but without air condition, and the other one in which we stayed was actually a living room with a sofa-bed and air. Mr. Begovic did not seem to know the appartment as when he saw that the bedroom had no air conditioned he told us it was not necessary, even though it was 28 degrees at night. They offered as well free pick up at the bus station but when we tried to arrange it prior our arrival, Mrs Begovic told us it was difficult to pick us up as the opening festival was taking place on Sunday and expected a lot of traffic (actually we took the bus and roads were not busy at all). It is true that Mr. Begovic asked us later why we hadn't called him to pick us up.

Disliked: The steps that you have to climb to get to the hostel, staff not being very friendly and helpful.

Liked: Free internet was great, as was the upgrade to an apartment for the week. The Lapad area is great, easy to get to the Old Town and close to cheap restaurants and a great supermarket.

Disliked: The 150ish steps from the Lapad strip to the apartment were tiring, even for a young couple in our 20s!

Liked: Begovic Boarding House was a wonderful experience. We were picked up from the airport by the owner's son - he was very pleasant and let us know what kind of places to visit while we were in town. We were upgraded to an apartment facility while we were in Dubrovnik (free of charge) due to unforseen complications. However, it worked out wonderfully and the owners were very accommodating. We enjoyed Dubrovnik and our living accommodations so thoroughly that we decided to skip our next city and spend an extra day and night in Dubrovnik! I would recommend it to anyone!

Disliked: There were a lot of stairs to walk up and down every day - but this did not bother me or the friends I was with. In fact, we kind of grew used to walking up and down them! It would not stop me from staying there again.

Liked: Despite all the steps, it was only a 5 minute walk to the Lapad strip so the location was quite good. I also liked the little terrace and that there was a kitchen to use.

Disliked: We stayed for 4 nights the first time, which was ok except for the toilet flooding and the drains backing up so the bath filled up with grimy drain sewage! Luckily they had nobody staying in the apartment so we could use the bathroom there. But we then went to Mljet for two nights and had booked a final night in Begovic on our return. When we arrived, they had given our room away to someone who had booked for 3 nights. The owner then had to drive us around town trying to find us an alternative room, which was very annoying as it was our last night and we didn't want to spend it looking for a place to stay when we had this room reserved for two months. He then got us a room in a much less pleasant accommodation with cold water! Needless to say we didn't pay.

Liked: I like that this hostel is close to the beach, is immaculate, and has Internet access.One of the hostel workers picked me up from the main bus station.

Disliked: There's no main reception. The owners never mentioned that if you need something, then you should knock on their door. If I needed something, then I asked Mrs. Begovic when I bumped into her right outside the hostel. I booked a four bed room for three nights. The hostel didn't have this available for me during my stay. I stayed in a one bed room for the first two nights, which was fine. On my last night, the hostel dumped me in one of their neighbor's house, and Mr. Begovic attempted to charge me at the rate that his neighbor was renting out her room. However, I ended up paying at the rate of a four bed room. The owners are a bit disorganized also. Mrs. Begovic told me on the first night that I might have to change rooms the next day. On the second day, I wondered when Mrs. Begovic would come by to tell me that I had to switch rooms. Because there was no main reception and because I didn't know which house the owners lived in, I couldn't confirm with them. When I returned to my room later in the day, I found the cleaning lady in the middle of cleaning my room even though I had locked the door when I had left. The hostel is not great for meeting other travelers. The owners are super friendly, but there are things that they need to be more conscious of to make their guests more comfortable.

Liked: We didn't like much about this property, we didn't feel comfortable there.

Disliked: first impressions of this place was that it was in the middle of nowhere! upon arrival we were greeted with open arms which seemed as fake as my prosthetic leg, once we entered the room i could already see that there was no upright storage space in which to place my prosthetic leg. there was no air-con, only a old fan which constantly made a buzzing noise and kept us up all night (when i inquired about a replacement stand alone fan she said "not my problem" which angered me and my leg) the bathroom was miniscule and hard to maneuver around in. The carpets were also old and dusty, which was not good for my asthma and the lighting stung my eyes (OUCH!. we booked to stay for 3 night but ended only staying 1 and then left to stay in the old town which was cheaper and a much lovelier area. In the heart of Dubrovnik's culture and great architecture, I would recommend staying in the Old Town rather than in Lapad which is just a bit tacky.

Liked: This is family run. they are basically kind but rough. I waited for my passport backfir ten minutes because of some stuffs like lunch they were doing, and they don't care if the internet was unavailble . I fixed it.
