Liked: great place to meet other travelers, inexpensive, and convenient shuttle service from the san jose airport.. i especially liked the mochila bar attached to the hostel..reggae nights on the weekends.. good live music.. lots of fun people. over all a pleasent stay

Disliked: it's not the cleanest place ive stayed, and the staff members are obviously used to seeing a lot of tourists.. but nothing stood out as being unexpected. it is a hostel after all

Liked: Good location. Good for backpackers. Good price.

Disliked: Shared shower for the private room. Bunk beds in the private room. Small room with no charm at all.

Liked: A wonderful oasis in san jose, what a great way to start or finish a trip. Fantastic facilities and an even better atmosphere. What really makes this hostel stand out is the staff you will not find more honest and helpful staff: problems, tours, advice,directions-these guys know it all.

Liked: handy location for downtown, hot shower,

Disliked: The bathrooms were not very clean, The bed sagged to the middle. Lots of traffic noise Trains passed by quite late at night and early morning.

Liked: Good food in the restaurant, if a little expensive.

Disliked: Receptionist claimed to have no record of my reservation on arrival but said I could speak to the manager in the morning. Asked the morning receptionist if I could speak to the manager about the return of my deposit. She spoke to the manager on the phone and trid to tell me that the deposit went to hostelbookers. I did not accept this and was eventually (reluctantly) reimbursed my deposit.

Liked: It was the most sociable hostel we´ve stayed in! The outdoor environment is brilliant and the rooms are safe and tidy. It also has a good restaurant, which was ideal for us because we arrived during Holy Weekend when all the restaurants in the city were shut. The staff were very helpful especially in the travel agency that is attached to the hostel - they helped us make up our entire itinerary for the whole of Costa Rica.

Disliked: I didn´t dislike anything, apart from perhaps how loud the music is in the restaurant!

Liked: I liked the atmosphere and the people there. It is fun getting to know other people traveling the same way, to share experiences and plans and to make new friends.

Disliked: The location is not the best. Even though a short taxi drive can bring you basically everywhere you need, the location could be better. And: most of the taxi driver still do not know where the hostel is, this is strange. But this has nothing to do with the hostel itself.

Liked: this is a good place to begin your Costa Rica vacation. they picked me up at the airport, on time. the staff were friendly and helpful. they can also pick you up for free at the bus stations. the pool was clean and nice for a dip. the garden is in bloom. this was my second stay, the first in 2005. I will return next time I come to San Jose.

Disliked: the food at the restaurant is a little over priced for what you get, but you can cook your own or go out. be sure and keep your key deposit receipt. you must have it to get the deposit back. I had to look through all my stuff to find it. I remember they told me but I thought it was just the key they needed to get the deposit back. it's a hostel not a 4 star hotel. they do great with the property as it is, but the building is old and could use a remodeling, but then again the price would go up.

Liked: How safe and secure it was from the mildly rough area it is set in. Great pool, great bars!
