Liked: spacious apartment, kitchen, full-private bathroom, direct access to beach and bus

Disliked: The manager/(owner?) during my stay was Dominic Santana. We booked using HostelBookers.com. Our reservation included an arranged price around $23/night. I returned our first evening (Saturday night) to my roommate waiting outside Dominic's apartment. My roomate had met a costa rican at carnavales earlier that day and asked her back to chill out. He had gotten locked out and Dominic refused to let him into our room: Apparently, Dominic 1) forgot to cancel the HostelBookers service arrangement, 2) didn't like the room that was assigned to us by his assistant manager (too big), and 3) demanded additional payment on the spot....i.e., He actually demanded that we pay $23 + $12 dollars more than the agreed upon price and completely ignored the reservation price. This after Dominic discussed the situation with another hotel guest, who decided to get involved from the balcony while smoking cigarettes. He was vacationing from Toronto and for some reason wanted to express that new guests should pay more due to high season...etc. ( I think this Canadian was a bit lost/confused as he somehow couldn't grasp the idea that this was none of his business and that we had already arranged a price with the hotel beforehand, and had it in writing). I digress....So although dominic said repeatedly that "$35 meant nothing to him"..."and that he was from new york ????) he wouldn't even let us in the room (to check/grab our bags) until we paid him. we paid and slept it off. we cleaned the room in the morning and wanted to return the keys to Domenic. He left the door to his apartment / front desk reception wide open, so we knocked and entered. he was not in the room, and we found him around the corner washing his car. he asked us snidely, "it is our custom to enter other peoples apartment..." The guy's the hotel manager, gave us grief to just stay in the hotel, and then wont even let us simply return the keys..... kind of unbelievable, really.

Liked: Wonderful beach, pool, food stores. kitchen, parrot and caretaker Miguel.

Disliked: Absolutely nothing!

Liked: The view from the balcony is truly beautiful. The room that we stayed it was large and clean.

Disliked: The mattress were thin.

Liked: It was right next to the bus stop so that was nice.

Disliked: It was really really dirty, there were crumbs on the counters, stains on the couch, and more dirt than tile on the floor. There was also a cockroach in the shower the size of a dump truck. The beach was also full of garbage and the air had a bad smell. Also there was no reception area, we had to wait for over an hour for someone to show up and let us into our room.

Liked: nothing because we couldn't stay there

Disliked: When we finally got there there was no reservation and we were told to leave. $50 taxi ride back to puntereas to find another hotel in the dark!

Liked: The pool, the amount of space, and the views from the balcony.

Disliked: It was hard to find the office. No signs.

Liked: We loved the deck overlooking the ocean with a pool and a grill.

Disliked: The rooms weren't especially clean, with lots of ants. The mattress was very hard.

Liked: Quiet place, friendly staff. Not a party place so perfect for reading, writing, practicing Spanish or a quiet date. Property manager gave me a ride into town to help me get oriented my first day. Extremely safe and secure inside the residence.

Disliked: I didn't dislike anything about the property. Mostly locals stay at this diamond in the rough. (Doctors, lawyers, politicians etc.) Great place if you want a get away to somewhere that isn't tourist infested. Casino's near by with supermarkets and stores twenty minutes into town. I booked this place thinking I would be in a hostel but I had all the facilities to myself the entire time
