Overview
Villas Mastatal is located in a remote village outside of Puriscal, Costa Rica. At our farm, you will experience a natural, organic, biodynamic and localized way of life. The rainforest drives our lifestyle and we work to preserve the natural resources like fruits and vegetables in our farm.
Our farm is 20 hectares (about 50 acres) of forest, river, waterfalls, and amazing natural resources.
For those who wish to stay with us, we offer rustic and natural accommodations. We are located near the La Congreja National Park, which provides many options for educational exploration.
Our purpose is integral and our agricultural practices are local and sustainable. Conservation, community, education, and tourism all make up a natural and organic experience for our visitors and our volunteers.

Location Information
GETTING TO VILLAS MASTATAL:
Villas Mastatal is located in the canton of Puriscal, and is most easily reached by bus or taxi via Santiago de Puriscal. Below are instructions for arrival by bus. If you would like to arrange for a taxi ride from the airport or from Puriscal, please contact us directly.
From San Jose : You will need to travel from the city of San Jose, to the town of Puriscal (aka Santiago de Puriscal), then travel from Puriscal into the surrounding mountains to arrive in Mastatal. From San Jose, busses go to Puriscal from the Terminal Comtrasuli (ask your taxi driver to take you to the terminal de buses a Puriscal) located on Calle 20 between Avenidas 3 and 5. Busses leave every hour from 5:30am to 10:30pm. You will arrive more quickly if you take one of the busses marked “Servicio Rapido” or “Servicio Directo”, which costs about 600 colones. The trip takes about an hour.
From Puriscal:
There is one bus that leaves Puriscal headed to Mastatal each day. Monday through Saturday it departs at 3:00pm and Sundays at 4:00pm. The fare is 880 colones. You may want to arrive a bit early to be sure you get a seat. The bus leaves from in front of the Soda La Choza de Dona Tona, located across the street from the large SuperMora, one block off of the the large central park.
The trip takes about 2 hours, road conditions permitting and will make several stops before stopping in Mastatal. Generally, the bus will stop in Mastatal center, then will continue on the road that passes directly in front of the driveway to Villas Mastatal. On Sundays, or during bad road conditions, you will need to get off the bus in Mastatal center and follow the signs to Villas Mastatal, walking about 1 km (uphill) from Mastatal.
