This hostel is in a nice location, outside of La Fortuna on the way to Cerro Chato (extinct volcano next to Arenal) and near the La Fortuna Waterfall, but definitely not too remote ... we liked the views, the breakfasts, and the the rooms, and would stay here again.

The owner, Miguel, and his family are incredibly friendly and helpful. The accomodations were GREAT, especially for the price. Not your typical young person's hostel (but those can get old fast). It's very peaceful and beautiful, right at the base of the volcano and within walking distance to a great spa and waterfall hike.

Everything about the Hostel was "top of the line" and we could not expect any type of improvements made.

Owner Miguel Zamora mostly. The grounds were absolutely spectacular, fun, safe and ecologically friendly. The food on the set menu. Spotless bathrooms. Great environment to make friends. Remote, hidden location. Direct view of volcano. Again, MIguel Zamora.

After reading reviews on different search engines, the location of the hostel was exactly as described. The owner, Miguel and his family are very attentive, caring, and wonderful hosts. We liked his openness and honesty. A pleasant experience is waking up to the sound of howling monkeys or birds compared to staying in the city. The flowers and the greenery that surrounded this beautiful place made us feel at home. The sight of the Arenal Volcano which is if front of this hostel is spectacular, and seeing cattle and horses grazing across the street are visions of the natural beauty. The rooms are very spacious and the beds very comfortable. A large shower with ample hot water and hammocks outside some rooms are just of few of the amenities. We ordered breakfast, lunch and dinner at times, which was made by Miguel's other half, Carmen. She is a fantastic cook who had our food ready promptly at all times. Her fish dishes were my favorite-they reminded me of my own Caribbean dishes. There is a foosball table, just don't think you can win against Miguel or his son, they’re both very good. This hostel is a relaxing, peaceful, and just a $2 or $3 cab ride from city centre of La Fortuna. This hostel will be enjoyed by all who visit.

This hostel is great because it's about a 5 minute drive from the busy and congested La Fortuna downtown. It's in a more relaxing environment and beautiful. The owner Miguel was extremely helpful and very nice.

Miguel was very honest and helpful. La Fortuna has become such a tourist hot spot that you often feel as if you are walking around with a dollar sign on your forhead- constant offers of tours, taxis´ etc. Miguel makes you feel like family and you can be sure you are getting the straight story from him. He knows everything and everyone you want and need to know in the area and is always there to help you. This is especially important in La Fortuna where it is harder than other areas to get around and things are much more spread out.

Miguel and his wife were extremely hospitable and welcoming. Miguel was very knowledgable about the area and spoke very clear english which was a plus. His wife made the best breakfasts and dinners and prepared the room so that it was very clean every day. Our stay was made very enjoyable because of the level of care that was put into everything that Miguel and his wife provided to us at the cerro chato eco lodge. The location was great as it was close to the volcano with an awesome view but just out of the way of town so as to have a feeling of being amongst nature. A must stay +++++

This Hostel was a bit out of the way from the main town, but was nice because there was no noise from traffic. Miguel was fantastic with helping us out with anything we asked.
