the staff was very friendly, I forgot to book my shuttle to the airport the night before and they were still very accomodating the next morning (they booked and paid for a taxi to return me to the airport for free).…
Overview
Maleku Hostel offers a free shuttle service to the Airport, It is the best place to begin and finish your trip. Don't go all the way to San Jose, many travellers don't know that the International Airport SJO is located in Alajuela.
Maleku Hostel is a Hostel run and owned by a Costa Rican Family. We will do our best to welcome you in our country and help you out with all we can!
If you stay in Alajuela town you will be just 3 minutes away from the airport, meaning you save time and trouble.
From Alajuela you can easily take half day and full day tours (by both public and private transportation or by private tour). Alajuela is home of many tourist sites, including the Butterfly Farm, Poas Volcano, Snake Zoo and Bird Zoo to name just a few.
Buses leaving San Jose going to the beaches and mountains, even to Nicaragua, stop in Alajuela, and the other way around.
