We arrived to San Jose on the bus later than expected and it was a relief to know that we arranged to have Arnaldo pick us up at the airport. That way we didn't have to arrange for a taxi and find out way around the city in the dark. He even was up at 4:30 am when he had to leave for the airport for an early flight. He made sure that the taxi was there to take us.

We spent our first 2 days in Costa Rica at Arilapa and loved it so much we came back at the end of our trip and spent another 3 days with them. The grounds were beautiful with the scent of cirtus blooms in the air from their orange grove. It was very relaxing sitting in the balcony chairs or hanging in the hammocks watching the many species of birds and listening to the river flowing in the background. The breakfast was delicious with the best plantains I've had in Costa Rica. We had fresh flowers in our rooms and enjoyed the local art hanging on the walls. Ileana and Arnoldo were perfect hosts, visiting with us but also giving us space to enjoy our Costa Rica experience. We told everyone we met about Arilapa and I intend to make it my first and last stop the next time I visit Costa Rica. They also provide airport pick-up and drop-off and are only ten min. away from the airport.

The owners are very nice and the location is great as it borders nature (just at a small river) and has an hourly bus to central Alajuela leaving from a stop rather nearby and also a small shop in the vicinity

The people that run it are fantastic! They go above and beyond the call of duty to help out their guests. They even provide free transportation to-from the airport and to town.

I liked the owner Arnold because he was very friendly and took me even to some spots to see. Also he had great tips. And the spot of the accomodation is wonderfull. The river just below, rocks you into sleep and the kitchen where everybody could lounge was super to meet others !
