The Atupa Orchid Units, Rarotonga, offer superior accommodation at low prices. These spick and span, self-contained bungalows are in a beautiful garden setting surrounded by trees, orchids and tropical plants. This quiet, secluded area lies just one kilometre west of Avarua, Rarotonga's main town. A pick-up service from the airport is available. Text follows in English and (German/Deutsch)
You'll love the quiet seclusion and tropical garden environment. Each bungalow has its own verandah -- you can enjoy the shade and the friendly atmosphere. These very clean, self-contained units are serviced regularly and have hot and cold showers. Each unit has a fully-equipped kitchen and refrigerator. There is an outside barbecue area. Interiors are cool and colorful. Radios and hairdryers are standard and there is a free paperback library. Bedrooms, like the living areas, are fitted with fans and insect screens.
The Atupa Orchid Units are handy to shops, restaurants and other facilities. The round-the-island bus service stops outside the gate. There is a bicycle and motorcycle for hire too. The owner, Ingrid Caffery and her son, Mario, speak and write English, German and Dutch as well as some French. Both also are experienced guides and conduct tours of Rarotonga by car and bus.
TOUR 1 lasts three and a half hours and TOUR 4 is four hours. On these tours you will travel the ancient back road -- the Ara Metua -- and will be introduced to the fauna and flora of the island. Tours stop at the Sailing Club, Muri Beach and at Ngatangiia harbor, the historical starting point for the Polynesian migrations to New Zealand.
The tours carry on to Avarua, stopping at the Arai-Te-Tonga, the court and meeting place of ancient peoples, old churches and Pa Ariki's Marae.
We also have Airport pick-up and luggage room.
Please note:We only take cash payments upon arrival.
