Liked: it was in the middle of the city right near the metro station. i could walk to the mall, to a nearby restaurant or bank. it was very convenient.

Liked: Great Location and Comfortable room on a budget.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike as such. Internet connection was available only in the lobby. No internet access inside the room.

Disliked: Some of the least helpful staff I've ever experienced. I sent an email before we arrived asking two simple questions and got a formulaic reply that answered neither of them. Staff at reception were slow and uninterested in helping us. Beds were extremely hard and the whole place had no charm whatsoever. Stay at Han Tang Inn if you can.

Liked: Very close to main part of city. Lockers in room with lock provided was nice and meals in the restaurant (with view over bell tower) were tasty. Free beer (ask at reception for your voucher) was good too :)

Disliked: Bed was very thin, didn't get a good nights sleep. Also took a reservation fee on top of final payment seen on this site

Liked: great location (really just next to the Bell Tower), very cheap dorm beds, relatively good shower facilities, offer well organized tours (e.g. Eastern Xi'an tours)

Disliked: staff was not always useful, in fact, gave wrong information/directions

Liked: The dorms were nice, the beds a good size with a lamp and large clean lockers. You didnt have to queue for the showers which were in good condition. The washing machine self sevice was good and the staff helped you to use it.

Disliked: The matresses were uncomfortable and most of the time the only toilet didnt have toilet paper. The restaurant/communal area was somewhat lacking.

Liked: 1. Free beer on arrival (Hans, 600ml). 2. Location - Right next to bell tower, 15 mins on the bus from train station which costs 0.5RMB and if you turn left out of the hostel and walk 50m down on the same side, you will find amazing street food 3. Rooms are clean. Bathroom is useable.

Disliked: 1. Bar is quite expensive. You can't actually buy the Hans beer in the bar, it's only for the first free beer. The cheapest beer they sell is the small bottles of Tsing Tao for 15RMB. We found Hans 600ml for 2.5RMB down the road in the 'Everyday' shop. 2. Free Wi-Fi only in Bar and Reception 3. Only 3 showers and 2 cubicles in the Gents for a lot of guests

Liked: Free beer on arrival and good price to buy at the bar. Rooms very big for a dorm. Each bed with own personal lamp, socket and shelf. Mirror in room. Very good location, bang in the centre of town.

Disliked: Very hard beds. Like sleeping on concrete!! Showers were a bit grotty. Internet was slow and can't get wifi in rooms.

Liked: We had a private double ensuite, which was really an old hotel room so it was huge and well equipped. It was kept clean too. The location is right by the bell tower in the middle of the old town and a walk away from many of the main attractions (and buses right outside taking you to the others), which couldn't be better. We didn't really spend much time in the bar but it did look like it was good fun and really busy every night, with lots of people who aren't staying there too.

Disliked: Other reviewers have mentioned the corridors are dirty. While this is true, it is in fact a shared stairwell with the other businesses in the building and also houses their shared toilets, so the hostel cannot really be blamed. Also, while they were able to help with booking train tickets, the comission was high - Y45!

Liked: Good place to meet nice people. Not a friendly staff. Not helpful. Bad service, even at the cooking (restaurant). The soap for the bathroom of the restaurant is hidden in a hole of the wodden bar so that nobody can use it. Tricky place. You cannot do your laundry by yourself. Have to wait 2 days to get your laundry back by the staff. The common room is a large smoky and noisy place not personalized with no relaxing area. Very good location and that's it.

Liked: The location is perfect. From the Bell Tower you can get anywhere. The staff is helpful and friendly but sometimes, due to the fact that they have many things to take care of, it may not seem so.

Disliked: Even though I like cats, I didn't enjoy at all seeing them wandering in the bar and restaurant, where people eat. I also didn't like that people are allowed to smoke in the common areas.
