Liked: The staff was friendly and helpful. The vegetarian food in the bar was good for reasonable prices. The location is in walking distance to the the center and railway station. Our double room was alright.

Liked: Well, the major problem was that they gave away our room before we got there. We ended up in a 6 bed dorm instead of a 4 — and they still charged us the 4 bed dorm price, which is higher! I thought the staff was pretty obtuse. The place itself is very cute, with a nice common area and very large lockers in the rooms (fits your whole pack). Each bed has a little lamp and shelf, a nice touch. The ensuite bathrooms and showers were a little icky, but it could have been just our room.

Liked: An excellent hostel. The cheapest in town and a great place to meet people and have fun, with loads of space to hang out in. One of the best hostels in China, if not the best. Only bad point is that the bed sheets could be cleaner, although otherwise it's sparkling.

Liked: I think the atmosphere was good, interestinf place to meet people. In my particular case, I booked a single room and I have to share the toilet, not big deal,but a bitt stinky. Even when it was cleaned every day. Walls could be painted to have a better look, it is not essencial but worthy

Liked: Staff was very friendly, they even remembered my name after i was 3 days in beijing, helped allways to translate in chinese (for the taxi)

Liked: Sofas at the entrance to read, have a drink with friends or just relax, a bar with a pool table inside, a place to have breakfast on the 1st floor. That's very convenient. The only think I didn't like was that I could hear next door's music at night when I went to sleep...

Liked: Mingtown was an awesome place to meet fellow travelers. Out of the 3 different hostels that I stayed at in China, Mingtown was by for the best.

Liked: The hostel is very centrally located near the Bund and the Nanjing Road. The twin room we stayed in was great, a good size with a nice bathroom. The bar got busy in the evenings, but the food wasn't great. The latter didn't really matter though due to the central location of the hostel.
